Maybe he can think a little more about the playbook so that he's more on the same page as Stafford. And maybe watch some film of some of NFL's elite TE's...
Last season there were times he looked like he was in la-la-land, and couldn't figure out how to find opens spaces in coverage. It seems like the only plays they could call for him was..... "Ferguson go long and put your hands as high as you can above your helmet".

He will be fine. He was asked to do a lot of blocking and did it well. Throwing some guys out of the play. I expect a good season from him.

McVay's offense is complex. Since he arrived, I have not seen a single Rams rookie, that plays a skill position on the offensive side of the football, have a rookie season that I would consider notable. Except for Puka and Kupp. But those aren't really fair players to compare to. Both are/were arguably the best WR in the NFL at times. Most players just aren't on their levle.
Other side of the coin, the Rams have not drafted high since McVay arrived. And not every pick is on offense. When it is, it is not always a skill position player. I for one prefer to build the trenches all else being equal. But I wouldn't give up on Ferguson just yet. Jury is out. I am not a huge fan though. We'll see.

I love that Ferguson is out here catching strays after a promising rookie season (better look at his blocking too before you come for me) for a 2nd round pick at a position that generally takes 3 years to know exactly what you have in the NFL.
Granted, if we had a crappier offense where we just lined him out as a big slot all game every game then his receiving numbers would have looked better. But we chose to not just do that but have him play on line and off the line too requiring run blocking, pass blocking and route running from those alignments.
This board is hilarious and will go burn a house down over losing a backup offensive lineman who should never start a game but won't give a 2nd round pick at least a year to show what he can do.
Poor guy was out for a chunk of his 1st camp too which hamstrung his development!

Nonsense. He looks like an athletic, fast, hands snatching, twitchy Alpha competitive, matchup nightmare out there with tons of YAC in his arsenal.
Just draft an elite ready to go skill guy with speed please. If that player can help Puka annihilate NFC West defenses I don’t care what position he plays or if he’s an elite blocker or who’s already on the roster. Rams need O players who can take over games.
Seattle’s D could very well be even better in ‘26
Fergs will probably end up being a nice TE. A perfectly decent, system functioning TE who shows flashes from time to time.
He’ll never be a top 5 TE who will consistently dominate with the ball in his hands or turn an inaccurate throw into a big play catch and score. I’m genuinely surprised that most of the board doesn’t see that already.

That’s only because they traded away their first round pick. In the 2023 draft they would have had the 6 overall after going 5-12
Seems like most top TEs flash year one. So he's most likely the new Higs.
But there's time, maybe we end up with something more than that.
