I became a McVay believer only recently but this is his finest work yet.IMO! No Puka? No problem! Leave it to McVay to draw up a creative, effective game plan giving us unreal diversity and a new way to attack defense.
I don't even think our TE room is anything special, yet the scheme is still proving mind-boggling effective. That's coaching.
Higbee is good and reliable, but nothing special, and he is also getting older and slower. Most teams have a TE of his calbre.
Parkinson is a player I realistically want to move off of, particularly at his salary. He's a JAG. I don't get the people that pump up his physical size as some huge advantage. He's a TE. Plenty of them are huge, even if no 6'7". I need more than a big frame at the position.
Davis Allen is an intriguing young player with potential, who has flashed good hands at times, but for now, is still a JAG. He doesn't look any better than Kendall Blanton did at times. Yeah, remember him?
Ferguson obviously has great potential and looks to really be coming on. He could prove to be a real matchup problem as soon as this year, but right now, I think it is hard to call him a true impact player.
There is nothing wrong with our TE room. But it is no better than a solid "B", IMO, with room to improve as Ferguson and/or Allen grow.
