So, what do we need to do to beat the Vikings this weekend?
I'll forward everything along to Jeffrey Michael Fisher and I'm sure he'll give it all the consideration in the world.

Mine is ... stack the box and press their receivers.
And spy the RB.

Although we tend to make average Joe QBs look like Broadway Joe, I think we need to make Ponder....ponder why he came out of the locker room. Stack the box and bring heat all over the place. Make him beat us with his arm. I think our CBs can stay with their WRs. Also, try to score more than.....oh, I don't know....14 points on offense.

1. Score early.

2. Establish a running game ourselves. Should always be a priority, but if Danny is out it's even more relevant.

3. Let Username get a few snaps.

I'm all for #3. Keep the Vikings D guessing as to not get Sam killed by their D-line. Unleash the beast in SJ and of course stop AP and we will be good.

Re: Suggestion Box

Vikes wouldnt be a bad team to play a little more zone coverage against. AD can get to the edge in a heartbeat so our CBs will need to be effective against the run. Ponder is also somewhat of a scambler.

They really dont have any kind a receving threat now that Percy Harvin is on IR, so I would devote as much to stopping AD as possible, although we need to keep an eye on Rudolph at TE. He could expose the seams and be deadly if he gets behind our safeties because they are up at th eline cheating to stop AD. I d like to see our LBs be agressive against the run, even if it means they bight on a few PAs.

On offense, the key has to be to score early. Their D isnt great on any level, but is good on all 3. Get out to a lead and pound the rock with SJ. Limit ADs possesions like you would Peytons.

Danny will likely be a go too, which is big for this offense.

He could just handshake it to death though.

"I think the strongest handshake in the NFL belongs to Adrian Peterson. For the second time since April, I shook his hand; and for the second time I had to check to see if my fingers were still attached."
-- Peter King, Sports Illustrated

"The first time I [shook hands with Peterson], I felt it all the way up to my shoulder.''
-- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sage Rosenfelds

"[Peterson] has the world's most devastating handshake."
-- Kenny Mayne, ESPN

"Adrian Peterson has the strongest handshake this side of The Thing."
-- ESPN Magazine

"Peterson's handshake more than lives up to its lore. There's no point in trying to equal this inhuman vise grip. If you do, the sinews of his forearm will pop out as he enhances his clasp, and your smile will twist into a pained grimace."
-- Matt Snyder, Minneapolis City Pages

"Adrian Peterson's handshake keeps orthopedists in business. He squeezes your hand like he wants you to pull him back on the cliff."
-- Berry Tramel, The Oklahoman

Kind of have to respect him a little for that. Where did the honest firm handshake go?

As far as Sunday? On Offense - Open it up early to get them on their heels a bit and slow down Allen. A couple early screens to DR and Givens plus a steaker to Givens and a nice mix of DA. THEN run the ball.

On D, cover the TE, and MAINTAIN gaps on D. AP can get out to the edge but so can we. I think he will have some difficulty running up the gut. We have to be able to string him out and of course not let him bust through arm tackles when we do.

Re: Suggestion Box

Force Petersen to run left, strip the ball, avoid his stiff arm and make him cut off the left leg.
He's just not the same when he's worried about fumbling.

Score a lot and keep scoring which mean nuetralizing Jared Allen.
We don't want to play their game,SJ is a beast and we need to make them think we're going to play it, but Sam needs to win this one with his arm, which he can , time to let the dogs out.

Re: Suggestion Box

This may sound simplistic , but I believe the key will be to OUT PHYSICAL them. The most physical team will win this one.

Time to open up some major cans of Whup-Ass !

Steven Jackson needs to make sure Sportscenter is showing his highlights instead of the other guy.

Re: Suggestion Box

Both teams are like almost mirror images of each other...

Star RB. Decent OL. Good front 7. WRs = meh. Good DBs

I think w/ Harvin out, the edge goes to Rams w/ Sam and his WRs than Ponder and his WRs.

Re: Suggestion Box

Limit Peterson to 100 yards... easier said than done I know but that IMO is the key to winning this game.
Also would be great to see Givens and Co. get a little separation. Throw deep early, set up the run...and a steady dose of SJ39 and DR26.
Would love to see some good screens to DR26 also.

Re: Suggestion Box

I would invite Eric Dickerson out and honour him pre-game. I read he doesn't really care for sports these days and for all we know he could be bitter about the Rams leaving LA... but i'd be on the phone to his representatives at the very least. how better to get the crowd fired up than to have the guy whose record youre trying to protect actually there?

Re: Suggestion Box

I like the suggestions on defense.

So I'll focus...

On offense;

1) Move Sam around. He's about as accurate as they come when in motion.

2) If we stutter early, go no huddle. That's another area Sammy does well.

3) Give D Richardson a few more carries. I'm not saying reduce SJ's carries for performance reasons... Just the mix isn't as mixed as perhaps it could be.

4) Blow up with Kendricks. If we can pass protect, put this guy into pass patterns often.

5) Get those quick hits working early.

6) Throw 2 screen passes for a change.

7) Make sure Brandon Gibson eats the same pre game meal as last week.

8) Don't overwork DA. We need this guy to get healthy.

Re: Suggestion Box

Good stuff CGI. Especially the part about BG's pregame meal.

I wonder what that was. :shifty:

Make Ponder beat you, but don't forget to contain him.

Oh, and punch AP in the dick!

That sounds like Dunbar's half-time snack.

Did you see the video where he says he drinks multiple energy drinks before a game?
