My wife's step dad had to evacuate Paradise, CA along with 27,000 others and my sister's family is being told to evacuate her place in Malibu. Unfortunately, many of the roads are blocked including sections of PCH so evacuating is not an option.

Please - everyone put their positive thoughts to all the people affected by these extremely fast moving and dangerous fires.

My best to all affected and hoping for the best for any of our members affected by these horrific events.

Rams have cancelled practice and closed the facilities so people can take care of families.

Just curious about this latest round of fires. Are these in anyway threatening the Rams practice facilities or near where most of these players live?

I thought I heard Thousand Oaks was also near where the fires broke out so wondering if this is affecting the Rams?

and building houses where no subdivisions should be. It's a freakin' desert. A hundred years ago, much of the burning areas would have affected few residential areas. Some of these beautiful houses are built in the forest. Beautiful scenery, and also a lot of fuel for massive fires....

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/11/09/fire-forces-45-rams-employees-to-evacuate/

The Southern California wildfires forced 45 Rams employees to evacuate, coach Sean McVay said Friday. Around 20 players and coaches were affected, including defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and defensive line coach Bill Johnson.

After the fire crossed Highway 101, a mandatory evacuation was ordered for Malibu and “all areas south of 101 Freeway from Ventura County line to Las Virgenes Road.”

The Rams, who train at Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, canceled practice Friday as a result.

“Everybody is OK,” McVay said in quotes distributed by the team. “I knew that there was going to be a bunch of guys that ended up having to leave their houses just based on the way that those fires spread and that are living in those areas that were affected by it. . . .

I don’t think anybody’s houses has specifically been affected in terms of [burning down], but they did have to leave the areas. For us, which is all the things that are considered knowing that how some of the road closings, the quality of the air potentially, we just felt like most importantly was for the guys to be with their families, their wives, their kids and kind of be that support structure and do things the right way and not have them come in, be totally distracted, like I know I would be if I was in their role.”

The Rams will practice at USC on Saturday.

The wildfires are a second blow to the area this week after the mass shooting at a Thousand Oaks bar. The Rams plan to honor the victims and survivors of that tragedy Sunday, with the game still currently set to be played.

“I think, if anything, the last couple days give you perspective,” McVay said.

Huh? I assume you're living somewhere in the Southwestern United States which includes California, Arizona, New Mexico....where we've been in a drought for the last 20 years or so.

New Mexico and we get quite a bit of precipitation overall. It doesn’t seem SoCal has gotten much of anything in a long bit.

The Santana winds come every Oct-Dec and even the smallest of fire can grow quickly. More rain would grow more fuel (vegetation) The L.A area is Much larger than you are invisioning. We had two very large fires last year and there is still plenty of old and new fuel
