Now that we’ve all calmed down a bit, what’s the state of the west now?
Might as well start at the bottom, the Hags are due to get Russell back after the bye and Seattle homer cowherd thinks they’re going on some kind of run but I don’t really see it. I just don’t think they have the firepower to stay with the rest of the contenders. Russells probably not thrilled about having somebody besides AD to watch out for. Outside shot at the wild card.
Also showing signs of life are the 9ers, Garapalo seems to be on a mission, and Kittle’s coming back I believe. But if the bears weren’t the bears they coulda won that game, Don’t know if you can expect Debo to go nuts every game and that secondary still can be had. Can 10-7 get them in the playoffs? That would be quite a feat with a bunch of division games coming up. They could be back to full strength by the time we play them and looking desperate, but the way Jimmy’s throwing himself around like he dgaf he might be in street clothes soon.

The Cards didn’t have their best effort against Green Bay and I think some of Kyler’s issues showed up when he gets knocked around. It’s gotta be concerning that a short handed GB team was able to score that much. No JJ but Chandler Jones is back. They should be able to get back on track unless they totally shit the bed like last year.

The Rams still have to face Rogers and Lamar as well as a bunch of division games so there’s nothing guaranteed by an excellent start. The run game could be better but I don’t think McVay wants to expose Henderson too much. This offense can go toe to toe with anyone in the league. The d has had its issues though which led to the blockbuster move. The rams will have to get through Brady and Rogers and Dak and Kyler to get to the ultimate goal, and it might come down to 1 or 2 stops, being able to trot out one of the best d lines in football (on paper) will hopefully be enough to help the somewhat shaky back end.
This is about to get good.

Good post @Flint!

I do think you were way too nice on your description of DC Morris's back end. I would not use the word "somewhat" instead inserted "mostly dysfunctional".

I am sure that before this season is over our defensive secondary will be our Achilles heel in the path to the SB. Thus Snead went the route to head off all those easy low hanging fruit completions that teams see when playing us by bringing in some very serious heat to try to shut those QB's down before that ball gets into the air.

Giving up 10 yard cushions on each play even a line of Donald Olsen Youngblood Deacon Jones would not get to the QB before he dumps it off to a receiver for a 5 yard gain

So are you saying .....what we have seen is the DB's following the DC's game plan?

At the same time that Snead trade of Von Miller will not have a big effect on these QB's & the assured completions, they will get from our secondary until the DC changes his defensive designed plan?

Yeah I am saying the DC needs to use the strength of his players.

His strength is a strong pass rush and move his CBs closer to the line of scrimmage since they are strong cover corners and not zone corners.

Example

Peters is a Zone CB and is showing awesome stuff in Baltimore's zone defense

Whereas Williams is a Cover Corner and would suck in Baltimore's zone defense

And I believe Morris defense is using more of a zone defense than a man to man defense

I truly believe the Rams strength would be man to man with some short zone mixed in by the LBs and Rapp and using some of the disguise coverages that Staley implemented.

Right now the Cowboys concern me the most. They’ve got great momentum and their backup even looked good with that offense. Has Jerry finally learned how to be a GM? The Cowboys may be the toughest opponent in the NFC.

I couldn’t figure that game out, was the dallas D just ballin out or was Minnesota just “meh” to begin with. Cousins had chances to put some real pressure on a backup but he couldn’t get it done. This was an important game for the Vikes as Green Bay is rolling right now but the boys were impressive.

Despite what we think as Ram fans,, the Cards gave it to the Rams in their own house. Until the Rams return the favor, The Cards are "The Big Dogs" of the West. That's only fair.

We also know despite SF's position they always give The Rams fits head to head.

The state of the West stands on its own... it's the most competitive division. I like the tests for the Rams that remain because it gets them playoff ready.

Let's keep in mind as the season goes on teams get more banged up, we're gonna see upsets based on missing star players.

Glad the Rams get a bye in week 11 too...before the toughest part of the schedule!!! The Rams are sitting pretty favorable!!!

They'll have great record because their division sucks balls..... and the Vikings aren't that great this year.
