EARTH CITY, Mo. -- It's no secret that Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke is one of the wealthiest owners in the NFL. It's a big reason he was able to pull off the move that put the words Los Angeles back in front of the team's nickname.
So where does Kroenke rank among all owners in North American sports? According to Forbes and ESPN's Darren Rovell, Kroenke checked in at No. 5 among North American sports owners on the latest list of Forbes billionaires.
Kroenke's net worth of $7.7 billion puts him at No. 148 in the world in terms of overall worth. Kroenke's wife, Ann, is also worth $4.5 billion according to Forbes. Kroenke ranked only below Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer ($23.5 billion), Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers owner Paul Allen ($17.5 billion), Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross ($12 billion) and Los Angeles Kings owner Phil Anschutz ($9.7 billion).
In addition to the Rams, Kroenke also owns the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets among major North American sports leagues. He's also the majority stakeholder in the Arsenal soccer franchise in London.
While Forbes used a $7.7 billion valuation for Kroenke for these rankings, its real time valuation has Kroenke listed as being worth $7.8 billion. It's a safe bet that number will only continue to grow as Kroenke continues to expand his empire and builds his football palace in Inglewood, which is set to open in 2019.
