Do you guys believe in it? I was listening to D'marco on the radio a few weeks back and he was saying that it is a real thing. That, that is the reason Givens and Jenkins are having worse 2nd years. From all accounts, Givens was working extremely hard at building muscle and working on widening his route tree. I sure as hell hope the slump curse is real, I had high hopes for these fellas

If it's not real ,where did the term come from?

I think it's very real but FWIW it seems to be a boost if the player didn't come in and impress the rookie year, then there is my man IP, who has been in a slump from day one unfortunately

Yea, I think he is a gonner

I was on his bandwagon too. He has such a good skill set. I think it's mental

I think its real. Probably a mental thing. They come in and achieve straight away and perhaps take the foot off the pedal a bit - thinking they've got it figured out. Teams gameplan for them better with a years worth of film to study on them. That and they are expected to improve - sometimes its difficult to take that step when youre still learning and young and at the same time you're trying to do other things - like add weight/muscle and you're role on the offense is increased so you've got more study to do etc.

Plus the novelty of being in a league might have worn off a bit - its now go to work every morning mode to grind (just like the rest of us) wheras in their rookie year it was all a big adventure. Who knows.

Hopefully guys who are mentally strong will rebound in their third year. We saw it with Bradford (although that high ankle sprain was a real problem) and with Quinn as well.

It's a real thing I think, when you're new, nobody knows what to expect.. You're an unknown element, that's why it's easy to impress. Now everybody's got them figured out, and it's time for them to adjust and get their edge back.

I think it could be real at some positions, particularly QB as game tape catches up.

But, it also flys in the face of Fisher's belief about the "biggest leap [in performance] is in year one to two".

For our sake, we sure as hell better hope that this is the case. lol Brockers is playing great tho
