With the recent 'Out -Break' of Bad behavior in pro sports It got me to thinking! ( And let me preface this by saying I'm a bit Older than most of you here, BUT..) What ever happened to the Good Old days, when Sports figures were held up as examples, to Children, of what you should aspire to be! People Like Babe Ruth, Lou Gerigg, Joe Louis, Mickey Mantle, John Wayne (Yes, he played Football at USC!). Anyway, Now, It seems Lately, all we get to hold up to our Kids are; Women Beaters, Child abusers, Rapists, Drug Addicts/Dealers, Generally Thugs, and Load-Mouths! Get My drift!? It aint a good example to our Youth!! I know their are still a Lot of Good Guys Like Chris Long and Marshal Faulk, and numerous others around today. But It seems like the % is Dropping! Excuse My rant, I just had to get this Off My Chest!! I want my Grand Kids to grow up in a better world!!!!!!

My mom says Phil Rivers is a good guy. Tim Tebow appears to be a good guy. JJ Watt seems like a good guy and it kind of pains me to say it because he's everywhere and I'm tired of seeing his face. Kevin Durant seemed like a good guy and a breath of fresh air when he was named MVP.

The responsibility of being a good role model doesn't just fall on professional athletes but all of us. I'm not a dad but I am a brother and I am an uncle. I've done things that I don't want to and not done things I've wanted to because I've got to set a good example.

There are a lot of good athletes out there. They just don't get recognized as much b/c their news aren't as "exciting" as say giving to charity, for example.

With the advance of technology and the speed of which information travels along with the new social media, more information is shared with the world than ever before.

George Herman "Babe" Ruth would have been leading off every Sunday edition of SportsCenter if it were around at the time, along with Namathbecause of some of the antics they pulled off the field as well.

My point being, we hardly heard a peep when ARod saved a boy from getting hit by a truck a few years ago, did we? But we all heard about him using steroids and trying to buy his way out of trouble!!

Every generation thinks the good ol days are in the recent past. Babe was an alcoholic cigar smoking womanizer. Not that there's anything wrong with that! I'd bet my last dollar the group from that era beat their women and kids more than those today.
