Through just 2 games, of course, but still...

Leonard Floyd. 5 total tackles, 3 solo, 2 asst, 1 sack [www.espn.com]
Dante Fowler. 6 total tackles, 2 solo, 4 asst, 1 sack, 1 FF. [www.espn.com]

Micah Kiser. 23 total tackles, 17 solo, 6 asst, 1 FF, 3 pass defended. [www.espn.com]
Cory Littleton. 9 total tackles, 5 solo, 4 asst. [www.espn.com]

Josh Reynolds. 3 receptions on 3 targets, 50 yards, 16.7 average, 3 FD. [www.espn.com]
Van Jefferson. 5 receptions on 8 targets, 76 yards, 15.2 average, 3 FD. [www.espn.com]
Brandin Cooks. 7 receptions on 13 targets, 115 yards, 16.4 average. [www.espn.com]

I don’t need to research the stats for our Brown/Akers/Henderson trio vs Todd Gurley, do I?

When looking at the above comparisons at those 4 positions that many pundits feared would be huge net Ram losses, it seems clear that not only have the 4 former vets been replaced, but they have been improved upon.

Yeah, it’s only 2 games so far, but that’s the only data that we can go on.

Kudos to the Ram FO, coaches, and especially the players. Also, clearly the Rams brain trust correctly analyzed their position situations at OL, RB, edge, WR, and ILB then made the correct picks in the draft (without a 1st, mind you) and in FA.

Good times to be a Ram fan, don’t you think?

Great coaching/cultrure/teaching/training. I figured McVay would outprepare most of the league over the offseason.

Guess I will also mention. Micah Kiser - who was dogged by media after week one. Currently leads the league in solo tackles and is top 5 in total tackles.

He was rather not good week 1. Week 2 he was all over the place.

Kiser was a tackling machine at UVA.....Actually made some plays in coverage too, will need him to run down Josh Allen come Sunday, because like Forrest Gump, Josh Allen is always running.

It's been like this since 2017.

Jamon brown
Trumaine Johnson
Tavon
Lamarcus Joyner
Maurice Alexander
Sammy watkins
And now Fowler, Littleton, Gurley, cooks and NRC are struggling so far.
I think Robert Quinn and Rodger Saffold are the only two who did fine after departing.

If the Rams let you walk, they may not value you like people do outside the building. I mean look at how much they spend for players they like.

This is the crazy part, most of those guy produces decently for us we cut bait and they fell off the face of the earth for the most part. After Johnson had that huge payday I heard he just got signed to the panthers practice squad, that’s crazy that some here wanted to give him an extension.

It’s 2 games in the season. I’m not on the bashing former rams bandwagon it’s all about the current team to me and what they can do. All I’m saying is wait till the season over then compare!!

Also of note is that Jefferson is doing what he's doing on pretty low snaps. He's taking that WR3 job. Should have it to start week three in fact.

Boom. I think the current Rams staff is great at identifying players who are enhanced by the system and letting them leave, versus players who enhance the system itself.

Keep in mind surrounding talent. I'd trade Floyd to get Fowler back. Floyd's playing with the most disruptive DT in the game and has only one sack and few pressures. Fowler still has Grady Jarrett but he's not AD.

To be fair to Littleton and some that worried he'd be missed, Cory was playing out of position as a middle linebacker here. He was not a tackling machine. What fans worried about being missed was Cory's pass defense.

Referring to some Rams cuts and trades, I recall listening to that dickhead Mike Golic on ESPN radio years ago. It turns out that he was good for something. He frequently relayed player experiences from the inside. He said that fans underestimate just how difficult it is for a lot of these guys to go to another team. They come into the league with one team, one head coach and position coach, and it feels like their family. He said moving on in free agency is like changing high schools. Some players adapt quickly and others don't at all. It just doesn't feel right anymore for some. They have to adjust to a new city, new coaches and sky high expectations from coaches, players, and fans. Plus they can be walking into some animosity if the player that held that position the previous season is still on the team and making half what the new signee is making. He also said some guys make the transition seamlessly, others don't and they can lose their desire to play. For others they look at the big contract as the finish line and feel that their goal has been reached and just want to coast. So free agency is a bit more complicated to navigate than it sounds. Character should be a huge concern. I loved McVay's first signings. Solid high character players that have leadership traits.

I think it was the only interesting thing that turd Golic ever said on Mike and Mike in the Morning.

After rewatching the game many times now I'm seeing Micah Kiser's everywhere. When you look at the forced fumble, the third down tackles, the batted passes and overall game it was quite impressive. He stopped at least 4 possessions. What is more encouraging is he disengages blocks effortlessly and he is nearly always on his keys in perfect position. It was a highly encouraging game. It makes sense now how he stacked so many tackles coming out of college.

Also, Floyd is a smart player that not only understands contain on the backside, but he is a real good run defender. He might not have Fowlers sack numbers but he will be much better against the run. We will need some pass rush somewhere else but with the rotations at DE we may find someone that steps up, Obo, Polite or maybe even Fox inside.

Kenny Young has also impressed.

With these three guys plus Fuller and JJ back It really looks like our D is built to be much better against the run. We shall see.

It has been clear to me that all off season the people talking about our huge losses were comparing the current team to the 2018 team, not the 2019 team.

Glad we didn’t over pay Fowler, wish we got someone better than Leonard.

The jury is still out on Leonard. Give it time... it's gonna be a long season.
