-Kupp is back to a full workload

-Rotating TEs, still mixing in 2 TE sets

-Impressive workload for Kyren

-9 DBs saw the field on defense. Lot of Nickel and Dime this week

-Kinchens increased playing time, most since week 4. Curl big drop (injury related?)

-Primarly 1 true ILB, Hummel more snaps than Speights

-Shoutout to Hoecht for finding a way to earn playing time. From DT to Edge to taking snaps as an LB

-Good DL rotation, looks to have been primarily 2 DTs

Interesting that Davis Allen is now getting the most snaps. Parkinson get injured at some point I don't know about or is Allen starting to beat him out?

Parkinson losing snaps is interesting - especially going against his old team. I wonder if Davis Allen is emerging in practice.

Parkinson has not impressed me. Waste of a FA pick-up. His salary is way too high.

I hope Higbeast comes back soon. He is an average TE but better than Parkinson.

Doubtful. It looks like Atwell is still mostly just backing up DRob. All of his snaps were at the X position but three. Whittington hasn't had any snaps at X this year. Per Jourdan, he hasn't been trained at that position.

Good news is if we want to move on from Parkinson and maybe Jonah Jackson we can after this year. We'd eat around $19 mil in dead money but get back around $7mil in 26 and then be clear of them. And that's if we do pre june 1st cut to eat it all at once. See how this season plays out though first. Still a lot of ball and players coming back from injury to see how this ultimately shakes out.

23 snaps for 12 personnel.

D. Allen is possibly surpassing Parkinson?

Definitely. Whittington is significantly more deserving of snaps than Tutu.

Tutu is done here. I appreciate the catches he makes time to time but the dude is completely unreliable for anything remotely involving a bigger role than spelling the dudes who need a break.

maybe... can't argue with that, but he did make a good catch in OT, right?
Seems every week I see him in the highlights, making some good catches/drawing DPI's.
But for sure, with Kupp & Puka on the LOS, I'd 100% rather see DRob out there, who's a killer WR3.
Whitt seems like more of a WR3 than Tutu, I see him backing DRob. But I don't see anyone on the roster with Tutu's deep threat ability, besides X.Smith who's completely untested. So he's still a good threat on this team. ya he makes a drop here & there but didn't both Kupp & Puka drop their first passes vs Vikes?
I guess I'm saying, there's no reason to jettison this kid yet.

My read on the TEs...

Parkinson is 25 and still developing. The dude is young as hell so he's not going anywhere. Also he's never going to be a plus pass game threat. He is like Higs, more of an all rounder at TE with some room to grow into his talent. He can do a bit of everything for the offense and he is available when needed.

Long is only a year or so older but this guy makes mistakes and I don't trust him to stay healthy and on top of all that he's not particularly good when he is available and on the field. Soon as Higs returns I expect that Long is gone. Rams will probably cut him.

Allen still has a ways to go but he's 23 and he does have that natural pass game toolset. For example in the endzone yesterday he didn't sit and watch the ball in to the defender, rather he disrupted it and prevented what should have been an INT. I think we probably got a bit too high on him from his early snaps due to our desire to see a top TE develop for us. It is after all a position that has plagued this franchise for years. But he does have some pass game upside to him. Doubt he'll ever be a stud in that regard but maybe he can be another all rounder with plus hands that you can trust.

I have to think that TE is a position where, if the Rams are sitting there at their first round pick in the draft and a potential pass game stud TE is on the board, they snap him up. Those guys are always gone in the bottom third of round 1 at the latest, certainly by early round 2. But barring a pick coming in from the draft I figure our TE group next year is gonna be Higs > Parkinson > Allen. And hopefully Allen will fight for snaps. Even better though would be a true pass game stud with some size, as we have the QB to fully utilize that type of weapon.

Yeah it drives me fuckin nuts. Give the kid 15 snaps a game and let him get comfortable ffs.

On the bolded part regarding drops, I've said this before here. It's a myth that Atwell has ever been high in that category. He had a lower drop percentage than both Kupp and Nacua last year.

I remember wanting Murphy in the first and Sweat in the 2nd. They got picked just before we could pick them. It's looking like that was the best thing that could have happened. Verse and Fiske are looking like the top two defensive rookies.

But not love for his great route and snag in overtime? He also blew by two Seahawks and was wide open but Stafford underthrew it by miles.
Caught one, dropped another. Had he caught the 1st they might not have needed overtime.
He's not reliable

ya & I think getting them BOTH is the key here. Maybe V8 does just as good without Fiske, since Turner & BY0 are really good in their own rights. But for sure, V8 is the cream of the rookie defensive crop from 2024, and Fiske is right behind him. I get Deacon/Merlin vibes from this tandem.
