Jones is a conundrum. He had a good season a couple of years ago and since then hes been poo. Is he a better Jared Goff tho? Look at it this way. Goff was terrible under Fisher and great under McVay and Campbell. Who's to say he wouldn't great under McVay as well? Plus he'd be learning from one of the greats for at least the next two seasons.

Just a thought

His “good season” was 15 td passes lol I’ll pass on him.

Would rather go after a QB in the draft or a different young qb on the FA market.

I'll bet there are a number of team message boards with fans asking the same question. Teams that need a quarterback or teams that need a backup.

Yeah most likely he'll get signed quickly by a QB needy team. I was just seeing what people thought of him.

If Garoppolo does not come back, I would be OK with Daniel Jones as a one-year back-up to Stafford.

Free Agency does not offer many good, inexpensive options.

It would have to be for a small cap number but I think Jones is better than Bennett. Also believe Jones should be looking for a Mayfield in L.A., Darnold in S.F., Wentz in L.A. and K.C. Type of Situation. Kind of a re-set-year with a strong offensive head coach and talent on that side of the ball.

I believe Jones has made $100M. He should not be thinking about $ or playing-time.

Living in NYC, I have seen every snap of Daniel Jones' career, and there was something there with Jones.
Now. I think he has regressed; and, maybe, he is no longer fixable but he had so little help for much of his time with the Giants.

But...... Why? Do we always have to just assume McVay can or wants to resurrect some random QB's career? What on earth does that guy bring to the table?

Also, what part of that ridiculous salary would the Rams need to pay for the honor of having Danny Derps on their roster??

He’s big and somewhat agile. After a playoff win vs the vikings, hasn’t he been one of the most sacked QBs in the league?

He’s not a savior, but a potentially good #2? I’d kick the tires.
…damn you baker mayfield.

I prefer a viable, veteran back-up; and there often are not many cheap options.

Should Stafford go down for a month, I prefer a decent veteran that can win a couple games before the season is lost. I don't have confidence that Bennett can do the job.

Assuming Jones is not claimed off waivers, he is a free agent; and no 'part of that ridiculous salary' would continue to exist. Should Jones want good back-up-$, I would pass. However, if he is looking for a re-set-year (like Darnold with the Niners in 2023), I would consider Jones to be a viable option. By-the-way, I would not be surprised if the 49ers pursued Jones for the same reasons.

Do you have any favorites to back-up Stafford in 2025, should Garoppolo not return?

I took a look at the current list of project free agent QBs. There are a couple of good ones (Jacoby Brissett) but they will get paid more than I think the Rams can (will be able to) afford.

You a Stetson Bennett fan?

I'm not a Stetson Bennett fan, but there's no way I'd take Jones over him. Jones has legs, and that's literally it; that's been his game since college, and it's continued into the pros.

I never saw a first round quarterback in him. He's proven that he's a bust of the highest order.

It's not that I am not a big fan of Daniel Jones. I'm not. But I do see more in Jones than you do.

I think bad situations can mess-up young QBs; and Jones was in a BAD situation for most of his time in NY.

He was that way in college. The Giants should've never drafted him that highly. No team should've drafted him in the first round; it was a Blaine Gabbert/Jake Locker/Christian Ponder situation all over again with a bad quarterback class with too many teams needing quarterbacks (after Kyler Murray, there was Jones and Dwayne Haskins and nothing else). It's quite similar to this year., actually.
