This story is still in the early stages and will certainly bring more information that will be needed to make a fair determination.
As it stands now with sign stealing allegations and recruitment violations now being talked about will we see a stripping of their 2023 trophy?

Should Washington be named the 2023 NCAA Champion?
This will be interesting to watch unfold over the next several months.

Here are a couple early articles

The worst part of this story is that it was no secret when it was going on
And the writing was on the wall that Harbaugh was bolting for the NFL
Now they dont want to penalize the current kids or staff for the former coach's transgressions?
Yeah, tell that to USC and Penn State
If they vacate the Natty (which I doubt will happen) no team should be awarded it.

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
If only there was a way to recognize the kids who played their hearts out and won while stripping the institution of the “accolades”
I have a feeling this may get really ugly.

Yes. Just because they were Michigan and coached by Harblow.

Yup, the kids get punished while the adult perpetrators (Harbaugh, Carroll etc) get to move on to bigger and better things

Its good to be the boss I guess.
Having worked with high school kids trying to move onto the college in a sport (not football) I have found many coaches are not partially great coaches or communicators at that level. They are, above all else, recruiters. Some of that makes sense and some is just sort of sad.
In a lot of ways, they are professional liars.
Don't know how much that extends to college football, but, it would not surprise me.

And from what I read about the USC charges, it was all hearsay. But the kids still got punished while Carroll went on to the NFL.

Carroll and Harbaugh are scum. Unfortunately, the precedent is there to strip Michigan of the National Championship they won, since Southern California was stripped for similar reasons.

It sucks for the kids who worked hard to earn it in every case. They earned it completely. But the coaches and institution ruined everything, and they must face consequences.

This coming from a completely unbiased Missouri Tigers fan.

They can take away the record in the books but it doesnt change that it happened
Every kid who proudly won a Natty still has every picture, t-shirt and trophy that says so

Carroll was at the NCAA meeting when they were discussing USC's violations and got disgusted by the anti-USC venom going their way.

It was absolutely terrible.

As a USC fan, I was not upset that Carroll went to the pros after that came out.

I detest the idea of taking away titles years after the fact. In that moment the behaviors you do not approve of were not stopped in the required manner, so what happened is what happened.

When you open the door to doing this where does it end. Ten years from now maybe we'll be pulling a national championship because a team had a rapist on their roster, or because the QB said something that hurt someone's feelings.

History needs to be something that remains in its accepted form of that moment, so we can learn from it. Trying to change it is the wrong approach.

That’s how Urban Meyer won. He was an excellent recruiter that lied to kids. He wasn’t a great coach. He was also the king of negative recruiting.

I have no idea if Dabo did it the right way or not. There for a while he was pulling high four star and five star recruits after just one visit. That usually screams pay day. Once Venables left that crazy recruiting surge slowed down. Maybe Brett influenced it.

Never really slowed down, it was the NIL and the Portal that slowed it down....however they are going to be back near the top this year.....
