After being a staunch no since this process began, I voted yes.

I love the UK but I feel that Westminster doesn't represent me any more.

curious about the currency issue... has it been determined which currency you will use in an independent Scotland, or is the plan to stick with the GBP?

That depends on who you ask- the yes side say a currency union with the GBP and the rest of the UK makes too much sense for both sides to not happen.

Others suggest we will have the euro, assuming we are allowed into the EU.

To be honest it's looking like a no so it's a moot point.

We've shat the bed. 60-40 no so far with 4 of 32 regions declared. It's all but over.

No complaints next time we get shafted by Westminster given that we've just bent over and lubed up for them.

I'd like to think this might be the catalyst for Westminster to give the regions a bit more power in their own decision making to avoid any further attempts at independence. Not just talking Scotland but the West Mids, Yorkshire etc (not that I'm suggesting that the West Mids is going to try to become independent obviously).

Also I'm not sure the EU would have allowed Scotland in. Spain would have voted against it because it would have given momentum to the pro-Basque independence types.

I had a feeling it wouldn't pass, I was talking about it with my mother today, she figured people would back out at the last minute. From an Irishman, good luck, it'll happen one day. Better to do it this way then how we did it!

Glad that it failed, a broken up UK wouldn't be the same, the Scots bring a lot to the union, it's been an interesting campaign either way.

So it finished 45-55. That means over a million scots voted for change- even if it's not independence id love to see seething positive come out of this.

Lumber- I have far more affinity with people in Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Cardiff etc than I do with the Westminster elite. From my point of view, this wasn't about any anti-English sentiment or anything like that. More representation for people in England is just as exciting to me as more representation for people in Scotland.

In the end, this is a class argument rather than a nationalist one. People who are doing well out of the union voted no, and those who aren't voted yes. Hopefully someone will be an advocate for those on the margins of society, because they were the reason I voted yes.

Yes but I'm skeptical as to what will be delivered- it was all very vague.

A lot of people voted No on that basis so I hope he has a good plan!

Absolutely with you on all of that. I'd like to think that most would like more autonomy for their own region although I have little confidence in the people that would probably end up overseeing it. Birmingham City Council has been making awful decisions for decades now in relation to issues that it has power over so if those powers were extended, what's to stop the awful decision making continuing.

Just out of interest am I classed as "Westminster Elite" as I live near London or are you specifically talking about Politicians?
