This is my vision for how I could handle this offseason.
Released:
Kendall Langford DT
Scott Wells C
Isaiah Pead RB
Eugene Sims DE
Jake Long
Re-signed:
Kenny Britt
Cory Harkey
Rodney Mcleod
Mike Person
Chase Reynolds
Shaun Hill
Free Agency:
Justin Blalock G
3 year $10 million ($3.5 million first year)
Blalock works best in a Power-blocking scheme and has ties to offensive line coach Paul Boudreau. Yes he is older but he is durable, missing just three games in 8 seasons.
Darnell Dockett DT
2 year $8 million ($5 million first year)
At this point in his career Dockett should only be a part-time contributor. Lucky for us he would fit perfect as an upgrade to Langford in a rotational role.
Trades:
St.Louis trades 1st round #10
Houston trades 1st round #16, 2nd round #51, and a 5th round next year.
Houston gets Kevin White to fill the shoes of Andre Johnson
Rams trade conditional 5th round pick next year
Tampa Bay trades Mike Glennon QB
With Tampa drafting Winston, Glennon becomes expendable
Draft:
Round 1 Pick # 16 La'el Collins OT/G
Collins is quiet and consistent and could play guard or tackle. I have him penned to replace Barksdale on the right side. Strong and has above average pass-blocking skills.
Round 2 # 9 AJ CANN C/G
It seems to be a consensus that we all like Cann. I'm no different. With his versatility he can definitely be utilized. What a good year to retool an o-line. I have him at center.
Round 2 # 19 Denzel Perryman
With Kendricks off the board we take Perryman. Excellent open field tackle and is tough. Can be groomed to replace JL55 in the future. At the very least he fills the holes left by Dunbar.
Round 3 Pick # 8 Ifo Ekpre-Olomu
He had a knee injury and is a tad short. But since we aren't in the need of a starter we take a chance on a guy that could become a playmaker once he has healed and he is developed. Eyes towards the future with this pick.
Round 5 Pick Pick # 9 Roert Myers G
Robert Myers shows great technical skills for a Guard prospect. He passes the eye test and is good in pass protection. A bit of a project that needs to hit the weight room. Can recognize what the DL is doing and is good and climbing to the second level.
Round 7 Pick # 32 Grant Hedrick QB
Grant Hedrick has shown flashes that he can play in the NFL. However, he lacks consistency but could develop into a good game manager type of QB. Played well at the Fiesta bowl and has good mechanics.
