She seemed to be doing better (mentally) in recent years.
Long admired her for her determination and toughness. It was a very demanding and punishing role in the Shining and Kubrick did not make it easy on her.
People complained long and hard about her portrayal but I am glad they eventually came around and appreciated what she put into it.
