EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The Los Angeles Rams are in the midst of what figures to be a busy offseason. They have a lot of free agents to deal with and a cross-country move to make.
But it's an offseason that would be less complicated had they done better during the 2015 offseason. On Thursday, ESPN NFL Insider Mike Sando unveiled his re-grades for every team for what they did in the 2015 offseason.
Given the benefit of hindsight, Sando didn't think too highly of the work the Rams did last year, though they got a good grade for what they accomplished at the time. Sando gave the Rams a 'B' last year after they traded for quarterback Nick Foles, signed linebacker Akeem Ayers and defensive tackle Nick Fairley, and drafted running back Todd Gurley and a whole bunch of offensive linemen.
With the results of that offseason now available, Sando downgrades the Rams' performance to a 'D.'
Clearly, the Foles trade was the biggest move they made and it turned out to be a bust. That the Rams signed him to an extension before he played a game for them didn't help. The Rams also lost points for hiring and firing Frank Cignetti as offensive coordinator.
For the Rams to take the next step forward in 2016, they'll need to fare better this time around.
