It was probably just an inquiry to see just what Oakland wanted in return.
In this theoretical situation, I'm thinking both Donald and Mack suffering career ending injuries in 2018 might have broken the salary cap.Could have got rid of Barron coupled with the cap space they got from restructures to make it work this year. But we’d basically have no cap space the next couple years to do anything. Would still have been worth it as long as the team stayed healthy but that’s no guarantee. That’s where the cap gambling pays off or screws you.

Hard to imagine Rams’interest in Mack was ever that serious. To retain AD, Rams simply couldnt afford Mack.
Teams always interested in everything, but that doesn’t qualify as “in the mix.”
