I actually spent hours going through Rams vs 49er History Today.....Counting the 1989 season, where we played the Niners
twice in the regular season, and then lost to them in the NFC Championship game :grr:
We are dead even at 62-62-3...Which really sucks, because the record after the 1980 season, was 41-19-2. 24 Playoff appearances.....18 Divisional Championships...3 NFC Championships (although, before the AFL merger, The NFL West played the East for the NFL Championship, removing a couple of layers from the current playoff system. The Rams are a team that have won the National championship, in three different cities...

Yes. my first game seeing the Rams was in 1973, last game of the season vs the Cleveland Browns. We won :sly: , but didn't have a clue that a first NFC West Division crown, of seven!

Could have been 8. Should have been 8.

They lost out to Atlanta and Bartkowski because Malavasi decided to play prevent on a 3rd and forever.

The Rams were ahead and sacking Bartkowski at will. But Atlanta converted that 3rd down and went on to score a go-ahead TD, and on the basis of that loss the Rams were the WC instead of Division Champs.

Man did the 80's and 90's let them get caught back up in the race so to speak. They got lucky with Montana and Young, it isn't often you get two first ballot Hall of Famers at QB in a row. For about two decades they had that position locked up eh.
