Personally, Maybe because I am being a HOMER (Rams Fan!) but I really think that the Rams and Vikings will end up tied with 10-6 Records at the end of the season and it will take the Tiebreaker to determine which Team moves on to the Playoffs and which Team stays home! Of Course, I hope I am wrong and the Rams end up 11-5!!!

Vikings conference record is 6-2.

The rams are currently 5-3. That bucs loss really screwed them.

But the rams have to win out so their conference record has to end up 9-3.

If the Vikings lose today they will be at 6-3. Obviously they will need to lose to the packers (or another nfc team) for the rams to get in.

How Rams can take over No. 6 seed on Sunday after Vikings' loss

The Rams got a little help from their bitter rivals on Monday night at CenturyLink Field. The Seattle Seahawks beat the Minnesota Vikings 37-30, not only taking over the NFC West lead, but also pulling the Rams one game closer to catching the Vikings for a wild-card berth.

Los Angeles went into Week 13 two games back of Minnesota and handled its business by beating the Cardinals 34-7, moving to 7-5 on the year. With the Vikings losing and falling to 8-4, the Rams are now just one game back for the sixth seed in the NFC.
Incredibly, after it seemed like the Rams had very little chance of making the playoffs, their chances are still alive and well. In fact, they can take over the No. 6 seed in the conference as early as Sunday night. It’s fairly simple, too.
They move to No. 6 in the NFC if:
  • Rams beat Seahawks AND Vikings lose to Lions
Both teams would be 8-5 and the Rams would hold the tiebreaker based on conference record. They don’t play the Vikings this season, so head-to-head won’t come into play, but Minnesota has one fewer game against the NFC remaining so the Rams are technically in control of that tiebreaker.

If the Rams happen to lose to the Seahawks in Week 14 and the Vikings beat Detroit, which many expect to happen, it’ll set Los Angeles back significantly. They would have to overcome a two-game deficit in three weeks, having to face the Cowboys, 49ers and Cardinals to close out the year. The Rams would need to win at least two of their last three and have the Vikings lose at least two of their final three games, too. Minnesota faces the Lions, Chargers, Packers and Bears the rest of the way.

Week 14 NFC playoff picture looks better for Los Angeles Rams with Minnesota Vikings loss

HOPE!

Los Angeles Rams HC Sean McVay talks with QB Jared Goff during the Week 13 game against the Arizona Cardinals, Dec. 1, 2019.

The Seattle Seahawks beat the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football in Week 13, 37-30.
The outcome meant more to the playoff standings than to just the Seahawks’ and Vikings’ fortunes.

It re-shaped the entire NFC playoff landscape:
NFC_standings_after_Week_13_after_MNF.jpg

The win catapults the Seahawks to the top of the NFC West thanks to their win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 10. They’ll meet again in the final week of the regular season, but Seattle’s loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 3 means Seattle catapults into the #2 seed with the Saints now atop the NFC. The Vikings’ loss means the Green Bay Packers are your NFC North leader with the Dallas Cowboys leading the NFC East at 6-6 setting your top four seeds. The Niners have the best record from a team not in the divisional lead with the Vikings in sixth at 8-4...just one game in front of the Los Angeles Rams at 7-5.

And now, the Rams’ path to the 2020 NFL Playoffs is set. Sure, the Seahawks and Niners could mathematically end up 10-6. Yes, the Packers could fall apart.

But as it stands after tonight, the Rams are chasing the Vikings to get into the playoffs.
Let the games begin.

Vikings play the Lions, Chargers, Packers and Bears.
Two potential loses with the Chargers and Packers. The Chargers are always capable of beating or losing to anyone. Lions and Bears shouldn’t be a huge challenge but we know how divisional games can go.
Rams just have to win out.
Seattle at home is a tough one for sure. How to defense them?
Would love to see the run game kick their ass but that isn’t super likely. I expect passing again. The good news is the McVay has had success scoring vs Seattle’s D over all and their secondary is their weakness.
Wouldn’t mind taking a page out of the Texans book vs the Pats and putting Ramsey over the second WR threat, doubling their main and running a CB on their RB out of the back field. A mix of man and zone.
Problem is of course, the midget running around and creating and blown coverages with a mixed scheme like that.
Best hope may be hold them to FGs and score a couple of TDs.

So if we beat Seattle this Sunday and Minnesota loses to Detroit we're in it?

No.
But we're not out of it.

If we lose to Seattle and Minny wins, we will be 2 games back behind Minny for the last wildcard spot, with only 3 game to play.

If we beat Seattle and Minnesota loses to Det, we will be tied for the last wild card spot with 3 game left to play

Just understand that the Rams simply have to run the rest of the table to have a chance at the 6th spot. The story is the same for the Vikes, they have to run their table as well as a single loss would tie them with the Rams and the Rams would have the tie breaker. The Vikes have the Packers to play and IMO that's a loss for them. I looked at the schedules weeks ago and knew the Rams had to win out to get in. That missed FG is huge right now.

That said the task for the Ram's won't be easy. SeaHawks, Cowboys and especially the Niners will all be very tough games. But this team can win out if the o-line continues to play well and give Goff time. That is the key. Like I've said before this team will go as far as the o-line will take them. If these young guys can pull it together as a unit this team can be even better than the dominant force they were last year. Ramsey is a huge upgrade over Peters and Long is beginning to look equally good. They are better at safety than last year as well.

Ogbo is showing he belongs opposite Fowler as the permanent outside rusher. With Ebukam as the blitzing LB they are developing a very good pass rush.

Oh yeah I like our chances if the young guys can really step up.

That Seattle game means everything to us. Not just playoff implications, it will be interesting to see if we are turning the corner as a team. If the protection is there, Goff has had some moderate success moving the ball. Rams have to show up on their homefield Sunday night. You are at home, you were humiliated on national television the week before on Monday. Everyone is going to be watching Sunday Night Football. Get it done McVay.

We are in the playoffs already! Every week is virtually do or die. Could we get in by losing another game? Sure, but highly unlikely. JUST WIN BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, the tiebreaker after divison record is record in common games, not conference record.

We will have this advantage over the Vikings if we beat the Seahawks.

I like our chances more against the Hags at home than the Whiners at their house...That would hold true for me even if they were both here...I was really impressed by the Whiners in Baltimore, in the rain with the weather seeming to favor the Ravens with their running game...They have to play the game though and I think the Rams can beat anybody with decent O line play..Given that the D shows up again...

I messed around with the playoff machine. Every scenario I could try that ends up with the Rams and Vikings tied gave us the tiebreaker. So all we gotta do is end up tied and we're in. But that is easier said than done. For some reason we don't play all that well at home.

We do match up better with the seahags than we do the 49ers. Tough defenses will shut our offense down. They had a nice game Sunday but that is one game. I can't say they're back after one good outing. All we can do is hope for the best.

Really? Wow. Why did I think it was conference record?

I feel like this team plays more relaxed and loose on the road. In a big game i actually prefer a road game. Rams road record under McV is 18-5 now i believe which is kind of insanely good.

It really is a fantastic road record (and for a 1st time coach espescially I would think).

Though, when compared to the much more typical home record, it makes me wonder if being on the road actually limits some of the distractions of LA and results in a more consistently focused effort?
The frustrating part comes from the feeling that this team, when they are prepared and tuned in, should be in every game they play. The bad losses end up feeling inexcusable.

No ram team at 9-7 has ever missed the playoffs, BUT EVEN 10-6 WON'T DO IT THIS YEAR....we can beat Seattle and Dallas, and I think we can beat 49ers....I just don't if this team with that young O line can beat the 49ers after those previous 2 teams. 49ers may have to beat Rams to get homefield throughout...that could be the key.

Guys: smashing the Cards with the 30th ranked pass defense is nothing. Goff is still having a pretty bad year, and yes, no one can throw like him, but really, he hasn't carried the team...and that is what he will have to do to beat 3 playoff teams. Expect we beat Seattle, but still go 10-6, or even 9-7..this is our 'down' year...McVay clearned a huge leasson....now on to more super bowls

According to the ESPN playoff machine. We could still potentially make it in to the playoffs even if Minny won out. We also would have to win out and then Seattle would have to beat the niners in week 17. Yeah, I know, but there’s a chance folks. Saints have to beat the niners as well.

Edit: The bad news is we’d have to play the Pack at Lambeau. Yeah.
