Rams sign UDFA S Michael Caputo
August 15, 2016 | By: Jake Ellenbogen
In the NFL things happen that are out of a team's control. With that being said something out of the L.A. Rams control was a torn ACL to their rookie safety Brian Randolph.
Randolph will be back to compete next year as he was waived with an injured designation and will be placed on injured reserve. The Rams just signed former Saint and Wisconsin Badger safety Michael Caputo to take Randolph's spot.
Caputo is a guy who has been considered a durable leader as NFL.com puts it. He totaled 244 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, one and a half sacks, three interceptions, 17 pass breakups, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries over his college career. Caputo was also named captain for the 2015 season as a red-shirt senior. The former Badger is not the fastest player (he ran a 4.62 second forty time) but he excels in run support and also flashes ball skills for the next level. Here is his scouting report for the NFL.com's draft profile of Caputo.
