There haven’t been many 6-foot-10 players in NFL history, but the St. Louis Rams are hoping their latest acquisition will stick around. The Rams signed a behemoth offensive tackle on Tuesday, Ole Miss’ Terrell Brown. Brown is 6-foot-10, 388 pounds, but played sparingly with the Rebels during his three-year Ole Miss career. Brown played just two games in 2012 at offensive tackle and eight games in 2011 as a defensive tackle.

<a class="postlink" href="http://nesn.com/2013/05/rams-sign-6-foot-10-terrell-brown-whose-most-notable-highlight-at-ole-miss-was-crushing-chair-on-sideline-video/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://nesn.com/2013/05/rams-sign-6-foo ... ine-video/</a>

The St. Louis Rams added another offensive tackle this week, a big one. The team signed Terrell Brown of Mississippi, who measures a towering 6'10, 388 pounds. That officially makes him one big dude. The only thing longer than his 92" wingspan may be his odds to make the final roster.

Offensive linemen need to be pretty flexible, bending down, springing up and moving to keep track with today's speedy pass rushers. It cost him playing time at Ole Miss, where he saw the field exactly twice in his senior season there. Still, he had plenty of NFL teams checking him out at Mississippi's pro day this year (full results for Brown's workouts are here). With those kind of measureables, he's worth a look.

Rams have added two very tall OT's now with Brown and then there is Sean Hooey who is also listed @ 6ft- 9 inch ORT.

There's a dude in my gym who's 6'8, 300 lbs, and he's a freaking giant.
I can't imagine what this guy looks like.

NFL.com's Gil Brandt commented on Brown's performance in front of scouts:

Brown is massive and just might be the biggest player we’ve reported on in this space. He has 38-inch arms and a 92 3/8-inch wingspan. Brown ran the 40 in 5.80 and 5.88 seconds, had a 5.65-second short shuttle and a 8.98-second three-cone drill. He had a 23 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 6-foot-9 broad jump. He also performed 22 lifts on the bench press.

Can you imagine if Coach Boudreau can work his magic on this player? He could end up being a monster (and, I mean that in a good way/at least for the Rams!)!

Trapped on an island.

With no food.

I wouldn't even be a satisfying snack for that guy.

I'd like to see him at DT, and just have him try to bat down balls on passing downs, or FGs.

I wonder why he didn't get drafted.....those aren't terrible numbers from the combine.

I can see lining him up at FB as a blocker or even giving him the ball at the goal line. I can also see him at FB staying in to block. And I'm being serious here.

With the way the NFL is going to passpasspass it won't be long before teams station a big OL type guy in the backfield on loads of plays as a last resort or last line of defense to protect the QB. I'd do it because you can have 5 on the line, line up 3 WRs and have a RB and this dude in the backfield. You can come up with some exotic shit from there that would get nice gains rushing and loads of time for the QB and receivers.

I'm not crazy.....I'd do it.

That's one less playmaker on the field though. That might work in other run-heavy offenses, but I don't see it being an option in this one or those read-option offenses that utilize speed at every position.

The guy didnt get drafted because he wasnt the best tackle on his team.

Sure wish the Rams would quit screwin with the latest and greatest circus acts. We already got a ton of non roster players that are ripe for injury settlements when they start hitting.

One less playmaker but more time for the QB and the three or four guys going out on patterns. If they have 4 seconds several times a game things will happen.

Anyway. Just pipe down and agree with my genius and innovation OK. You'll regret that post of yours when this becomes a somewhat common formation in the NFL. And i promise I will never let you live this down. Ever.

Well they have to play by the rules and start with 90 and whittle it down to 53 so you know these guys, meaning Fisher and Snead, are gonna take some flyers. Snead has said he likes making the effort to find the hidden gems so I am thinking we are gonna see this every year.

I like the approach of bringing in a ton of UDFAs........it's like playing blackjack with the houses money.

No, I'm going to beat this subject to death until you relent and accept my position as the only true position.
See, the issue isn't whether or not your formation will work. The issue is why should it be implemented in the first place?
Then we have to follow the natural progression of the discussion in the manner in which I determine it to go.

Not so much an OT now. Looks like he'll be a DT.
I like it. Another REALLY tall space-eater.

Ha Ha Ha.... Line this guy up at FB and put (and handoff to) Tavon at Tailback in the Redzone. Good luck to the D who probably won't even be able to see/find Tavon until it's too late :)

This is an AWESOME idea. I feel like even if he doesn't Pan out, put him at center for PATs and field goals. Have a LB just push into his back to fling him closer, with his hands up I feel like it would be like a 75% chance he at LEAST grazes it. 0_0
