In voting by Rams players, the team has named four captains for the 2013 season: linebacker James Laurinaitis on defense, quarterback Sam Bradford and tackle Jake Long on offense, and defensive back Rodney McLeod on special teams.
Bradford and Laurinaitis were both named captains last year as well.
“I don’t take it for granted,” Laurinaitis said. “I think it’s a huge honor and I take it seriously.”
Laurinaitis said the honor was especially meaningful because the captains were selected by his teammates.
“Because we have some other great leaders,” Laurinaitis said. “Chris Long’s a phenomenal leader. Courtland Finnegan leads in his own way. Will Witherspoon, a great leader. . . . So I take the ‘C’ on the chest very seriously.”
