I watched the final four last night and now today all I hear is about this missed call and how we need to have a way to go back and correct mistakes. Jim Gray was asking Pearl if this was a situation like the Rams-Saints and do we need to do something about it.
Here we go, we’re gonna have challenges in basketball now, I’m sure baseball’s next.

It's getting beyond annoying at this point.

I didn't watch the game, but surely there were some other moments that Auburn could've capitalized on?

Whatever, just win and let the butthurt flow.

In this day and age with the slow motion instant replay, we have the advantage of hindsight. Being able to challenge mistakes is a good thing in some ways. But the slippery slope it causes may not be. With the NFL allowing challenges on PI we're going to have to see if that doesn't become part of the game strategy.

How many successful challenges will there be on hail mary's? On calls that would never be made without the challenges? We all know there is some sort of contact on those plays. If a team wins a game or scores a TD before the half on a challenge, I can see teams working that in their game plans. Have the receivers initiate contact with their body and get a call.

I notice watching MLB they have the strike zone for the viewers. Sometimes the ball isn't in that zone and its called a strike. Sometimes its in the zone and its called a ball. As long as the umpire is consistent with those calls I'm fine with that. I'd hate to see strikes and balls being called by technology instead of a live human. Part of the strategy for pitchers is knowing a particular umps strike zone and working with it. One thing though that really ticks them off is when the ump changes his zone later in the game.

I did watch the game and the 15 replays. Number 1 the Virginia point guard should have been called for traveling prior to the 3 point shot. Number 2 the Auburn player committed an obvious but not flagrant foul with his body. I haven’t heard ANY of the talking heads say it wasn’t a foul...Including Charles Barkley who was a devastated Auburn alum. A tough but good call by the official. So pick on the traveling no call but shut up about the called foul.

And might I add as upset as Auburn Head Coach Bruce Pearl was at the time of the call...he was nothing but class after the game. His team fought hard but ultimately one play should not be blamed for the outcome of the game. Asshole Face take notice on how a coach is supposed to respond to adversity!!!

This wasn't caused by the rams, it was caused by the legitimisation of gambling. Punters aren't going to gamble on outcomes they see as flawed so there's an even bigger reason now for there to be the perception that sport is a fair fight. If the call is right, the 'fair' outcome is reached.

That is my biggest gripe about Super Bowl 36. The officials did not call that game as they had for every game before in the season. Later we learn of Tapegate and it made sense. Still sucked but made sense.

Whatever. I'm tired of the media talking about it as well as Rams fans being sensitive about it. F the Saints, the media, and all the BS surrounding it. None of it's gonna matter down the road, and Aints fans will be just like we were after the 2001 Rams got robbed by countless holding and interference non-calls.

Basketball is always the same....middle school through the NBA.
If a team wants to complain about a 1 or 2 point loss....just direct them to the stat sheet where it shows how many free throws they missed.
End of disussion.

All i can say is thank God i don't watch any sports talk shows anymore. Either the people talking are complete numbskulls or they're parroting what the producer is saying in their ear to create the greatest drama where there isn't any.

I wonder if Auburn's coach is going to cry on his couch while downing Ben & Jerry's, too.

I'll only watch the final two minutes of the game which usually lasts a good 30 minutes.

Do you remember before Fox fought, yes fought to put the camera in centerfield? It was always offset enough that the strike zone was the imperial purview of the Ump. Some SZs were obnoxious and super random about their SZ. At least it’s tightened up...A LOT!!!

This could all still go sideways but I think if they are going to talk about the integrity of the game with all of the conspiracy stories going mainstream, then there’s a premium on getting calls right.

Let robots do it if that’s how it has to be.

For 20 years the MLB strike zone called by the umpires had shrunk by their calling low strikes. When the commissioner ordered the strike zone to be called according to the rule book some batters and pitchers could not adjust. It has had a lasting effect on pitchers getting to the big leagues.

I still wouldn't take it away from the human element. Technology should assist with but not call the game.

I agree. I will admit I don't like the way the strike zone evolved to anything above the belt was a ball. But a part of strategy is working with the ump's zone. Not every ump calls the same game. Some are pitchers umps. Some are hitters umps. I prefer the traditional way of the human element. Umps and refs are a part of the game. Mistakes happen. The good players adjust.

They should be talking about the missed double dribble. The foul was legit.

It wasn’t a travel. He lost control of the ball and picked it up with two hands. At that point he could no longer dribble away but he did. The next nano second was a foul called on the Auburn player for reaching in. Bang bang play the refs missed it. At the time I thought the whistle was for the double dribble.

It was a foul... clear as day. Zero doubt about it.

Pearl can stick it up his known cheating ass.
