EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The St. Louis Rams took care of some small but important pieces of business Monday afternoon as three restricted and one exclusive-rights free agent signed their one-year tender offers to remain with the team in 2015.
Restricted free agents Rodney McLeod, Austin Davis and Cory Harkey and exclusive-rights free agent Brandon Washington inked their one-year deals with the team and appeared on the league's transaction wire late Monday afternoon.
McLeod, the team's starting free safety, received a second-round tender offer and will make $2.4 million after signing. McLeod did not get any outside offers in free agency, but if a team had signed McLeod and the Rams opted not to match, the Rams would have received a second-round pick as compensation.
Davis and Harkey received the lowest level tender offers but did also did not get any outside offers. Davis started eight games for the Rams at quarterback last year and Harkey has proved a key contributor for the team by playing a hybrid tight end/fullback role. The one-year deals for Davis and Harkey are worth $1.5 million a piece.
As an exclusive-rights free agent, Washington essentially had no choice but to re-sign with the Rams. Special teams ace Chase Reynolds, who was also an exclusive-right free agent signed his one-year deal earlier this month.
Signing the contracts allowed all four players to participate in the start of the team's offseason training program, which began Monday morning.
