Interesting. I don't know anything about him. Looking at his history he's only been an interim OC for a short stint, the rest of the time he's been a QB coach or RB coach.

I wonder if he'd convince Fisher to take a look at Josh Freeman.

I hope not, but stranger things have happened. Freeman reminds me of Kyle Boller, he can't hit the broad side of a barn!

I like this interview, almost more than Chudzinski. Mine the best and most creative offenses in the NFL, Fish. Do it!

I would much prefer someone who has held an OC position in the past and proven they are capable.

Being a QB coach for Aaron Rodgers is like being a life coach for Tony Robbins.

I could go either way.

I kind of like getting someone on their way up.

Someone with OC experience who is available for the taking is available for a reason. While they may have had success, it probably means try have also failed to some extent otherwise they might be a HC or at least still an OC for some happy team.

Name recognition is about the least important thing for me - I want someone who is going to make a name for himself w us.

Do the packers still run the west coast offense? I'm thinking Bradford would be productive running that again.

Raiders OC Greg Olson has “always been a fan” of Josh Freeman

Alex Van Pelt, current Packers running backs coach and former Buccaneers quarterbacks coach, said this week that he “loved” working with quarterback Josh Freeman when both men were in Tampa.

He’s not the only former Bucs assistant coach with nice things to say about the former Bucs quarterback. Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson had the same job in Tampa during Freeman’s first three seasons in the NFL and said the experience left him with warm feelings for the quarterback.

“I’ve always been a fan of Josh as a person and a player,” Olson said, via Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com. “It was unfortunate, for me, to watch what happened in Tampa really over the last couple of years. I’ve always had the utmost respect for him. I think he’s a great player. I feel bad for him and the entire situation and how it’s played out. I just found out myself coming off the field that he was released. I don’t think there are any winners for anybody in that situation.”

Packers assistant raves about Josh Freeman

The Packers might not necessarily be interested in former Buccaneers quarterbackJosh Freeman, though they have shuffled through backup quarterbacks all offseason.

But one of their assistants is convinced Freeman is going to be effective again, wherever he lands.

Packers running backs coach Alex Van Pelt was Freeman’s position coach in Tampa Bay in 2010 and 2011, and said “No doubt” when asked whether Freeman could still be an NFL starter.

“I loved Josh,” Van Pelt said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. “Josh and I had a good working relationship. He was nothing but a pro when I was there with him. He was never late for meetings. We actually had 6:30 [a.m.] quarterback meetings; we were an hour before anybody else, and I never had an issue or anything like that. He did everything that I asked him to do.

“He was a great teammate, watched him work around the other guys and had a lot of respect for him. I don’t know what happened, but I know the guy that I was there with I really enjoyed being with.”

That’s a far different narrative than is being advanced in Tampa right now, and indicative of the fact the guy’s going to get another shot. Regardless his poor play this year, he’s been productive before. And given the scarcity at the position, guys who were first round picks and have been productive before get many, many chances to fail.

I'd rather have the guy that replaced him...Mike Glennon...Again I watched Josh Freeman throw about 1oo straight passes in a row without completing one when he was with Minnesota and they wanted him to be their Quarterback in the worst way and he was.
