Rams RB Blake Corum explains what he's doing differently in Year 2

Los Angeles Rams second-year running back Blake Corum didn't have the greatest rookie season. The third-round pick out of Michigan rushed only 58 times for 207 yards in 17 games before he fractured his arm in Week 18 to miss the entire postseason.
Now in Year 2, Corum remains the main backup to Kyren Williams but might have some pressure with rookie Jarquez Hunter sitting behind him. Corum, though, has noticed a clear difference between this season and this past season — specifically with his approach to the game.
"Year 1, I was trying to be as perfect in everything that I did. I didn’t want to make any mistakes. And that slowed me down a bit in terms of my capabilities," he said. "Now I’m just out there letting it loose. I’m playing at a lower weight, I feel faster, I feel more agile, I feel great. Between that and the game slowing down, that’s the biggest difference."
That combination — not being a perfectionist and slimming down — will be crucial for his development in 2025. The Rams don't need him to be a bellcow, but they'd likely want him to be a solid role player on the offense so Williams doesn't always need to carry the full load.
Corum and Hunter also play the position differently from each other and Williams. That trio of skillsets could open up the playbook a bit more for Sean McVay in 2025 and give Matthew Stafford more weapons to work with as the Rams look to make another playoff push.
