Rams preseason dates, times announced

As an appetizer to Wednesday night's announcement of the regular-season schedule, the Rams announced the times and dates of their 2014 preseason slate late Wednesday afternoon. It features the first afternoon kickoff for a preseason home game in 20 seasons of the Rams in St. Louis. Here's the schedule:
_ Friday, Aug. 8: vs. New Orleans, 7 p.m.
_ Saturday, Aug. 16 vs. Green Bay, 3 p.m.
_ Saturday, Aug. 23 at Cleveland, 7 p.m.
_ Thursday, Aug. 28 at Miami, 6 p.m.
(All times are Central.)
With the baseball Cardinals playing a 6:15 p.m. home game on Aug. 16 vs. San Diego, the Rams decided to move up the Green Bay kickoff to give fans a chance to catch both games.
The Rams' only prior afternoon preseason contests since moving to St. Louis in 1995 were both on the road. At Indianapolis in 2012 (a 12:30 p.m. Central kickoff). And a 3 p.m. Central kickoff at San Diego in 2005.
