The move comes as no surprise given Goff was the No. 1 overall pick in 2016 and was the Rams’ starting quarterback in Super Bowl LIII.

Goff is 24-7 over the past two seasons, with a 100.8 passer rating, after going 0-7 with a 63.6 passer rating as a rookie.

Through three seasons, Goff has passed for 9,581 yards and 65 touchdowns.

No surprise, wait on how high the cap space will go up and see how he fares going into his 4th year. Any remaining cap space can be used for Donald, Gurley, etc. in the meantime

Hmmmmm does this mean he’s a colossal bust still?:banghead::rolllaugh:

not a bust but not a franchise qb either, according to the hacks at rotoworld.

Rams exercised QB Jared Goff's fifth-year team option for 2020.
The move was a formality. Speaking last month, coach Sean McVay said he was unsure when the team might begin extension talks with its quarterback. Goff has made big strides both years under McVay but has remained a player who must be managed and manipulated. It is possible McVay will begin dreaming bigger as Goff's contract nears its conclusion, though by far the most likely outcome remains Goff staying in Los Angeles.

Lol at managed and manipulated. Who the hell writes those things? Someone that read a Reddit thread? Smh

Forgot I was in the Goff 5th year option thread. The guys are ready for the draft and so am I. They say they are even more in sync in the process of finding players that fit the Rams system. Could be another great draft. Oh and glad Rams get Goff for a 5th year and more.

I have to wonder if extending him sooner that later might be a wise choice? Today he probably wouldn't command the kind of deals other top QB's have been getting. They can start the extension after his 5th year when the cap is higher. Might be considered a steal by then.

I tend to agree with you. Sort of feels like trying to lock in the right interest and term combo with a mortgage.

Got to time that jump. A little complicated with the CBA expiring soon too.

They only have a couple weeks to pick it up, not sure it would affect his trade value if they tried to trade him.

Meh, I'm over stuff like this. If Goff comes out firing like he did last season, at that point people start to look stupid. As far as I'm concerned, he's managing and manipulating NFL defenses at this point. If Jared is so bad, what does that say about everyone who lost to him? Sean McVay isn't the one out there making throws so...
