Mathis is 33 years old.
His salary is $5.5M this year and $6M next year. If he was 29 this would be a no brainer.
I have no idea what they would be asking for a 33 year old G. He is one of the best Gs in the league.

Part of the problem isn't just his salary and his age, it's also that he's better as a zone blocker, which is not the system our O line runs

Just looking at his ability. But you're right switching schemes doesn't always go well.
