ST. LOUIS — With National Signing Day on Wednesday, we’re taking a look back at some of the Rams when they were high school prospects and going through the recruiting process.
Cornerback Janoris Jenkins
Then: Jenkins was a four-star prospect out of Pahokee, Fla., who was rated as the 117th-best prospect in the Class of 2008 and the 12th-best cornerback. He signed with Florida after also considering Auburn and scholarship offers from Florida State, Miami, Clemson, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Evaluation: “Jenkins shows great hips, change of direction and speed. In fact Jenkins shows great range and the ability to close quickly, whether it’s in run support or in coverage. He shows toughness and good tackling fundamentals. Jenkins is not afraid to come up and support the run. In coverage he plays the ball well in the air and shows good man-to-man cover skills.”
Now: Jenkins transferred from Florida to North Alabama and was a second-round pick (No. 39 overall) by the Rams in the 2012 draft. He has started for St. Louis for three seasons and has seven interceptions and six touchdowns — five on interception returns and one on a fumble recovery return.
