I hate that these players are getting cut so early without any preseason games. Say what you want about preseason, but at least the players got to prove themselves there and in camp. Without preseason and camp...yeah.

Well, in all fairness, the pre-season roster size had been 80 up until 2011 so its not like its been 90 forever

To other teams as well.

Nate Trewyn, and some here were counting him among the contenders for our starting Center job :explode:. Maybe now we can admit that the center position is a total mess on this team.

Just shows the depth with the DB’s this season.Jordan Fuller & maybe even rookie JUju Hughes. Adronis is an interesting prospect. Nick Scott has a nice advantage coming in after getting his feet wet last season. A core special teams guy.

I LMAO on all the people that think some 7th rd. Pick was going to make The Rams roster. Especially without a training camp.

Nate Trewyn was a throw in and a undersized player who never played Center. Now all of a sudden he is going to take Brian Allen’s roster spot.Who basically was hand picked by Kromer ??

Now, I got caught up in the Chad Johnston thing, but the new DC slowed that process down a little. Actually not having a training camp helped his recovery a little ?? The rookie kicker will probably get cut soon as well ??

The final roster will be interesting with all the zooming. Concentration on details is going to play a big part of it all. Above the shoulders & keeping in shape.

FWIW you are wrong about Trewyn being undersized, he was the biggest Center the Rams had at 6-4 315lbs and he played Center most of his four years at Wisconsin-Whitewater I believe you are mixing him up with Coleman Shelton out of Washington.

Now I'm not disagreeing with you I'm just setting the record straight on Trewyn.

Now as to who the Rams cut, well, the Rams have plenty of Centers in Blythe, Allen, Shelton and UDFA Cohl Cabral so not shocking they released one of the Centers....Ethan Wolf is caught up in a numbers game too as the Rams are good at TE.

Greg Dortch was a little surprise, Rams had plenty WR's, however, Dortch was a very good PR/KR so I guess they feel good about some of the others and Jake Gervase gets cut after being activated last year....Wow, new Safeties in Burgess & Fuller giving the Rams improved depth at that position. Would not be shocked to see one of the kickers get released too like MacGinnis and I like him, but they drafted Sloman & Hajrullahu has experience so we could see a cut there too.

Very tough situation, especially for the UDFA rookies. So unfair, but life isn’t fair, is it?

I’ll say this. We must remember that all 32 teams are in this same boat. So, it behooves the Rams to keep a close track on all early released players that they liked predraft. It’s very possible that a good position fit or two might become available to them.

Smart and well informed teams might gain a slight advantage during these unusual times.

Nothing much unexpected. Maybe Greg Dorth this early but, they did sign some UDFA with speed. in the end, it won't have any real impact on the final roster and PS.

How many UDFA got cut to get down to 80? None with the Rams. It may actually be an advantage for the UDFA as clearing out 10 spots leaves room for them.

53 roster + 16 PS = 69 spots. Only 11 more cuts to get from 80 to 69. Some. Some vets who cannot be stashed on the PS will get cut to clear cap space for next year.

Shitty for the players but nice to see actual roster moves.

I would guess that Gervase gets a shot somewhere down the road too. He is limited but smart and solid depth.

How in the world can the Rams make an informed decision about releasing a kicker candidate this soon?

I mean, they may be forced to do it, but it won’t be an informed decision. It’ll be a Covid required damned coin flip. Geez...

It will come from the coaching staff observing kicks. Probably as much about kicking-form, and vibe the player gives off those first days.

I tend to agree @flv, they will whittle down to 2 quick.

Your right. I was mixing him up with Tremayne Anchrum. Who is only 6”2.

Nate was just a practice squad guy & was never going to be a better choice
Coleman Shelton.

My opinion still stands that Anchrum won’t be on The Rams roster when the season starts. Time will tell real soon.
