Rams climb to No. 28 in Power Rankings

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The St. Louis Rams' stay in the basement of the ESPN NFL Power Rankings lasted all of one week.

As with the beginning of any season, there's always a feeling-out process in determining which teams are good and which aren't. The Rams looked like the worst team in the league in Week 1 against Minnesota and were ranked as such, checking in at No. 32. One week later, the Rams managed to steal their first victory of the season, a 19-17 triumph on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While the win wasn't overwhelming or aesthetically pleasing in any way, it was enough to allow the Rams to emerge from the bottom and move up four spots to No. 28. The Rams surpassed the Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants and the Bucs in the process. But even at 1-1, they still come in behind another 0-2 team in the Kansas City Chiefs. New Orleans and Indianapolis are also 0-2 but are still getting the benefit of the doubt with rankings of Nos. 16 and 15, respectively.

Like I wrote last week, I don't believe the Rams are the worst team in the league but I also don't have any issues with where they're ranked this week. You could make a case they should be ahead of the Chiefs but Kansas City nearly knocked off Denver on Sunday.

Right now, all we have to go on is the evidence and the evidence states the Rams have a blowout loss and a narrow victory against a team ranked behind them on this list. Another win this week against Dallas would go a long way toward creating further separation between the Rams and the bottom of the list.

The rams are Ranked #24 at Yahoo's 'Shut-Down Corner' Power Ranking! ( Just checked!)

Thats by ESPN's "standards". We were higher on every other power poll last week, and will be again this week.

OK guys we got up off the floor, that's a good thing LOL.

Moving up the rankings is nice, but the best thing about this week is that we're not talking about Keenum.

With how well the passing game has gone with our receivers I bet Bradford would've been slinging it all over the field right now and we'd be 2-0 sitting around 12 possibly

Rams need to get this power running offense out of dead last in points. We don't need to be a scoring juggernaut, but middle of the pack would be nice.
