EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The 2015 season ended Sunday with the Denver Broncos' 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers. And with the end of the football season comes the immediate desire to look ahead to the next one.
Yes, we are a long way from getting back to football and there's a lot that will happen in free agency and the draft in the coming months. But it's never too early to begin looking ahead to the 2016 regular season. OK, maybe it is, but that doesn't mean we won't do it.
On Sunday night, ESPN revealed it's "Way-Too-Early 2016 NFL Power Rankings." The Los Angeles Rams landed at No. 25 on that list, ahead of only the No. 30 San Francisco 49ers when it comes to NFC West division teams.
As you'd expect, the Rams came in so low on the list largely because of their offensive issues. The caveat included about how the ranking could change comes with questions about the Rams fixing their quarterback problems.
Personally, I believe No. 25 is a little on the low side for a team that was 7-9 and was in a lot of games. Something closer to the middle of the pack would probably be more appropriate but the Rams do have a lot of questions they need to answer. If they can somehow find an upgrade at quarterback while retaining key defensive free agents and adding at wideout, they should be able to move up in these rankings soon after next season starts.
