Not trying to sound like a homer here, but this guy knows the square root of jack shit about Gurley and the Rams. Here's why:
1. Gurley's situation on offense was MUCH worse last year. The QB situation was a mess, the O-line was a cluster of rookies and injuries, AND the OC had to be fired. In 2016 the Rams should have a significant upgrade at QB, a much healthier and better O-line, and a run-first OC with a passing game specialists to help. Ask Doug Martin how he fared running with a rookie QB last year.
2. Todd was hurt last year!! Does everyone forget this fact? He racked up most of his yardage while wearing a knee brace for God's sake. He is faster and stronger than what he showed last year. Another year removed from the ACL will only make him better and give him more confidence in that knee.
3. The idea that TG3 was only good last year because of long runs is BS. AP's stat line looks very similar to Gurley's in that regard, yet I don't hear this guy complaining about that. Gurley is a master at creating big plays. He did it in college, he's done it in the NFL, and he will continue to do it. A guy with his speed, vision, and strength is going to make big plays. If you want to see him in goal line situations feel free to look at what he did against the Seahawks, Lions, Vikings, Ravens, Bucs, etc. Also, comparing him to Tevin Coleman is the dumbest thing I've heard. Coleman created big plays in the Big Ten, Gurley has done it in the NFL and made it look easy at times. That and Gurley has more talent in his left leg than Coleman does in his whole body.
4. It is clear that this man did not watch a shred of Gurley's film from college. Todd was an excellent receiver out of the backfield and racked up as many receiving yards in one season as Ezekiel Elliott did in his whole collegiate career. The Rams will get him involved more in the passing game now that Todd is healthy.
5. Gurley running at 80% behind a young and tattered line with a non-existent passing game still averaged 4.8 YPC last year. He ended the year top 3 in rushing yardage and he only really played in 12 games. To ignore this or to chalk it up to just big plays is absolute nonsense.
