Just curious what other Rams Fans thoughts are of the Rams 2019 Draft Picks now that they have completed their Rookie season?

Didn’t get to see too much of their playing time but it does seem to me that Taylor Rapp was definitely a HOMERUN (Or, Should I be saying TOUCHDOWN?!) and I thought a few of the other picks showed some promise!

But, I am definitely interested in seeing other opinions by Fans who are much more knowledgeable than I am and have seen much more of the Rams Rookies than me!

Rapp even with his mistakes showed exactly whey the Rams coveted him so much. He was almost always around the ball and had chances for multiple pick 6's. Some scheme and coverage responsibility work in the off season and we have a very good starting safety for the future.

Henderson not being ready to assume carries IMO is the reason Coach Peete is gone. Lets see what his successor and O'Connell can do to remedy that.

Long didn't get much playing time but then really wasn't needed. I think he like most all of the picks weren't expected to start or even play much in year one, a theme with Snead draft for next years needs and develop them in year 1. I'd anticipate a larger role in 2020.

Evans had a rough camp and a lot of people around here were wishing he never saw the field and regretted the pick. There was even discussion debating why he was taken before Edwards who showed well early. Well with some coaching and thrust into the lineup he responded fairly well. Still has work to go but I'd wager he'll be a good starter for the Rams when he's finally given a starting job.

Greg Gaines again wasn't called on much his first year. SJD showed well in camp and there were times Gaines wasn't even active. Made some good plays when he got in so we'll see what happens going forward.

David Edwards like I said in the Evans comments started well. But when he got in struggled early. We'll see where he ends up but like Noteboom I think he was playing out of position and is best suited as a tackle.

Nick Scott saw almost exclusively special teams snaps. Did fairly well even catching a 23 yard pass for a 1st on a fake and stopped short on his 6 yard run week 17. I think our next ST coach will like him as much as Bones did.

Everybody loved Allen in camp but he was relegated to the PS and poached eventually. He's on Jacksonville now and I think was signed to a futures contract so he should stay there for camp.

All in all I think this will end up being a good draft class, don't judge them fully until they've had three years.

I thought that Evans and Edwards (yes, @Corbin , I lost the bet, you were right, I was wrong, I'll give you all of my ROD dollars once a mod or bookie helps with that.) acquitted themselves well.

Long was good in limited action. He's the reason why I'd be fine with trading NRC.

Henderson did nothing, but there was little continuity and cohesiveness on our line at the start, and by the time we were respectable, Gurley was no longer on a pitch count. He needs to improve his pass protection, but with Brown being a free agent after this year, I could see him get a new role.

I have no idea why they kept trotting out SJD instead of Gaines. Gaines showed more in his limited time. I think that he could have a big year once he's starting and has a powerful 5-tech next to him as well as AD.

Rapp was Rapp. I loved the pick when they made it, and I haven't seen anything to make me believe otherwise. He was incredible.

I still think that we should've kept Dakota Allen.

I still think that Nick Scott was a wasted pick.

It's kind of early to say but overall I was disappointed with the draft. I was hoping for an early Oline pick, preferably a center. The Rams passed up a very good one when they traded back. Elgton Jenkins has been a difference maker for the Packers and the Rams were said to have interest. I had no faith in Allen. Rapp is a good pick but I think they missed filling a greater need.

Long has great cover skills but is small and doesn't play the ball great due to his size. I wasn't overly excited about the pick. I was glad they did more to address Oline depth but admit that I didn't know much about either Evans or Edwards.

overall I am not a fan of all the trading back every year.

Taylor Rapp was a great pick and has become one of my favorite Rams. Bobby Williams played fairly well during the last 6 games or so and I think he's a keeper. I'm surprised Henderson wasn't more effective; he was money at Memphis setting all kinds of records. Maybe a new Running backs coach will help him. That's about it except for maybe David Long. Again coaching and hard work may help here.

I would give it a big incomplete right now. Rapp I think was a steal and excellent value with Edwards, everything else was underwhelming at this point.

@Elmgrovegnome I was disappointed we didn't snag Jenkins as well. Ran zone blocking scheme, but a couple of pointers on him that he's being transitioned slowly:

1) He wasn't their starter, but came in due to injuries.
2) He gets a lot of help. He's often double-teaming or is allowed to pick up the occasional blitzer.
3) Speaking of Rodgers, he doesn't face many blitzes. The book on him is to send 4 or rarely 5 and put defenders into coverage.

Credit Green bay's o line coach, but it's not like he's jumping into the fire playing against the likes of Mack, Clowney, and Armstead one on one.

Grading Every NFL Team's 2019 Draft Haul

Los Angeles Rams

2019 Class:
SS Taylor Rapp (No. 61 overall)
RB Darrell Henderson (No. 70 overall)
CB David Long (No. 79 overall)
OT Bobby Evans (No. 97 overall)
DT Greg Gaines (No. 134 overall)
OG David Edwards (No. 169 overall)
FS Nick Scott (No. 243 overall)
LB Dakota Allen (No. 251 overall)

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey wasn't too happy about Taylor Rapp's blown assignment in Week 16 against the San Francisco 49ers, but the rookie had many bright moments this season.

In three outings, Rapp recorded 10 or more tackles, illustrating his tendency to be around the action. He also demonstrated his coverage ability, tallying eight pass breakups and two interceptions—one returned for a touchdown. The Washington product has a lot to learn but seems like a solid complement to John Johnson at safety.

The Rams may have found starting offensive linemen in the third and fifth rounds of last year's draft.

Bobby Evans took over for Rob Havenstein, who dealt with a meniscus injury, and fared well at right tackle. If the front office moves on from Andrew Whitworth, who's an impending free agent, the coaching staff can experiment with the Oklahoma product at left tackle, where he lined up for his junior collegiate term.

David Edwards manned both guard spots—mostly the right side—and should have a chance to claim a starting job with both positions in flux. He opened the last 10 games of the season as a first-stringer.

At times, the ground attack sputtered because of instability on the interior of the offensive line, so it's no surprise Darrell Henderson's numbers look modest (39 rushes for 147 yards). That's not ideal for a Day 2 pick expected to spell Todd Gurley II.

Grade: B

It is early to judge. Snead made so many trades it was hard to keep up.

Rapp seems like a solid pick. He is not a big hit but, make tackles low. He was around the ball. I think we see less mistakes in year two and more plays made. Solid late 2nd round pick.

Henderson was a little disappointing. Thought he would produce more. Had some nice runs against the Whiners that showed his explosiveness. The line didn't give him much room to run when given some chances. There could be lots of reasons why he didn't play much. One thing for sure is he can be explosive if given some room.

Long I thought he might play more. Something about him I like. He needs to be more physical at the line. I didn't see him bump WRs at the line. That gave the WR separation right away, That was against the Cardinals. He didn't completely turn his head when the ball was nearing the WR, He was still very close. A little more coaching up and practice he could be a solid starter.

Evans Its hard to say without looking at more game videos. He has long arms but, maybe a little slow at times. Like most rookies, he needs to hit the weight room. He can become a serviceable OT/OG or a solid starter.

Gaines Showed some flashes. A year in the weight room will do wonders for him. Looking forward to his progress.

Edwards Looked good early when starting. Finished blocks with a little attitude. Needs the weight room. Could be a OT as well as a OG. He will become a solid starter.

Scott Didn't show as much as I expected on punt coverage but, he could improve.

I was trying to look at where the Rams were supposed to draft for all the trades. It was very hard to see. I think Snead got the players the Rams targeted. Considering where they were picking with no first-rounder they got some good prospects that got some starter experience. Year two will tell us more. Looks to be a least a solid C and could be a B plus.

No, but he's better than Allen who is the guy that I thought needed replaced, ditto for Blythe. Jenkins was listed as a guard/Center. So either or. They spoke highly of him in tonight's game.

I'd go B+ or A- considering we didn't have a 1'st round pick.

Can't say enough about Rapp, he just made Weddle obsolete.

We know our RB's weren't used correctly this season, and our run blocking was poor, so i'm not going to hold any of that against Henderson.

Evans & Edwards each deserve an A+ for what they accomplished coming in raw and picking up an OL in dire straights. Next year after camp I believe they'll have found a positional home.

Long & Gaines didn't get the field time I was hoping to see, but I have no reason to believe they won't be more effective next season as they take on more responsibility. Another camp and they'll be good to go imo.

As for Scott, I rarely have high expectations for 7'th rounders, so my grade for him is an incomplete.

I'm going to throw in our many UDFA's who not only looked quite good in camp, several made their way up to the roster and received some great experience. A couple months ago I stated this might be the best Practice Squad i'd ever seen with the Rams, and that opinion hasn't changed.

It's sounding unanimous on Rapp--bullseye.
Long: needs work. He was hit and miss because he seemed late on plays. That's just "thinking instead of seeing." I don't know how much he will improve between now and after the next camp, but I wouldn't consider him as a front runner to start at any spot right now.

Edwards: looked bad in camp, was impressive at LG, was up and down at RG. Teaming with Evans seemed like a good idea though. I can easily see him starting next year. Ideally, I would like to see him at LG if Noteboom can handle LT. NBoom looked much better at LT as a rookie than did at any point this season at LG.

Evans: flashed potential in a couple games and did a decent job, considering, but I'm not completely sold on anointing him as the new RT.

Henderson: meh. Yeah, I saw a FEW good plays, but he's too small to carry the load. If Gurley vanished tomorrow the Rams would still need to draft another RB. That's why I'm not so sure they shouldn't consider doing just that if the right guy is there. The Rams are lacking speed at the position overall because I just don't see Henderson as a work horse.

I think the Rams did well in finding at least 1 starter at both OL and in the secondary (Rapp and Edwards). Should Long and Evans become starters, then the 2019 draft ends up being significantly better in trying maintain a contending roster.
