For me, this was the first interview I've seen with Raheem Morris, and man, this guy is impressive. I can see why McVay was so high on him-- they seem to share some of the same qualities. Raheem seemed confident, upbeat, experienced, and obviously is passionate about what he does. I also like the way he speaks quickly and expresses a lot of information in a short amount of time. Seems like a great leader with excellent communication skills-- and a fun sense of humor to boot.

I can't say I know much about Morris from an X's and O's standpoint. But I was really worried about having a big letdown after Staley left, and I found this press conference very reassuring about the kind of leader we have in Raheem Morris.

The Rams are in good hands.

A good thing to coaching turnover is the injection of creative ideas. We still have the Staley defense, with Morris adding his ideas. Potential to make last years scheme better.

That’s the hope anyway.

That was really good. I normally don't like press conferences because it takes too long to get anything out of them. He had really good informative answers right away and continued to impress. I'm still concerned about the "make a difference play" philosophy, but I'm starting to think I might have been wrong.

That was a good watch. Makes me almost hope our defense doesn't look too good because he'll be yet another HC in the league from the McVay tree.

I think Ramsey's biggest value is shutting down receivers. I worry about 2 things when we use him in star. More contact, more chance for injury and that our 2nd and 3rd corners will not shut down anybody. I hope when we play a team with better receivers, he plays corner.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Man I hear ya. Having every team hire whoever has been on our staff every year is getting old and it pisses me off. Every team wants what we have. It's like they're stealing.

I'll say this though. Coaches who are lucky enough to be brought into McSlay's staff know what a unbelievable opportunity it is. They also know that they better perform at the highest level they ever have.... because if they do.... they have a solid chance of receiving that extremely elusive HCing job.

The culture McSlay has created insures that we have hyper motivated coaches. That always brings the best out of players. Especially players at this level.

I'll take that over the turnover we experience on the coaching staff. We win in more ways than we suffer from this. And we will always be the most attractive place for the real talented coaches.

He has the leadership down. Great presence at the mic too, better than 3/4 of the league's head coaches I think. To be great as a DC though you need that edge in calling games and gameplanning. We'll see and I am pulling for him.

I can definitely see from the video why you think he will interview well for a HC position Merlin. If our defense continues to play well I definitely see him getting a shot. It would suck to lose him though after one season like we did with Stanley. McVay will need to figure out a way to move up Henderson because our Dline coach could be stolen from us as well.

Being able to embrace Staley's D and be successful will put him over the top as a HC candidate, imo. If they finish top 5-10 in D, he's probably gone this year.
You combine his leadership qualities with being smart enough to adapt and learn, and you've probably got a guy you want to lead your team. Great public face for a team as well... great energy.

You better keep Ramsey right in the thick of all things at all times! .....he plays his best when he is being pressed & expected to carry a large load.IMO he was the best college deep safeties I ever saw play the position @ FSU. If it were not for Deon Sanders I would say the same about his play @ CB.

Ramsey will cover anything that moves out away from the LOS & those big super freak TE's that nobody can run with can be neutralized by Ramsey. I would not change his position from the STAR post for no reason.

Rochelle's development will be key to this. I'm not comfortable with only relying on Williams and Long when it comes to big beasts like Metcalf. Rochelle has enough size, length and speed to do it... just depends on how quickly he learns. And.. by all accounts, he's learning quickly.
He could be the difference between the Rams having a very, very good defensive backfield and a truly great one.

Rochell sure did a nice job on that 4th down late in the game. Seems like every time he's on the field he makes plays. :fistbump1:

I also don't like Ramsey getting involved at the line of scrimmage a lot. Easy way to get rolled up on and get hurt.

I feel exactly like this, but the opposite. Him playing star has worked so far. Don't fix it. It isn't broken

Man, he is almost as fast on the "mind draw" as McVay! Articulate, sharp and a leader. Most teams go down in flames with the loss of a good D-coordinator, but the Rams keep getting top notch replacements. The Seachickens, Zona and Whiner fans are punching their windshields because they keep celebrating the Rams coaching departures in March, only to have the replacement staff as good or better in September. This shouldn't be happening, but it is! Enjoy the ride!

His scheme won't be as good as Staley's, but this guy is a much better leader and the players love him. He is running closer to a cover 2, but we have AD and Ramsey, we can run any scheme and do well.

It adds a critical disruptive element of uncertainty for the quarterback. Plus Ramsay is a great, physical tackler. One of the best in the league.

You have to use him and all his skills, not park him on the corner to watch the turf grow. No one will throw at him if they know where he is and can avoid it.

Exactly. He has a lot of different talents all at high levels. He thrives under the challenge of using them all. Not using him in the star role is like asking Donald to exclusively play a traditional 2 gap.

Rams have been a DB farm since Snead got here tbh. I feel like their scouting of LB's is improving as well.

We'll see how this season shakes out with Morris, but if he does field another elite defense and get a HC job, it might be time to start giving McVay more credit for being able to plug n play defensive coordinators than we do to the actual DC's that coach here and move on...if that makes sense.
