For those of you who didn't watch the "athleticism" tape all the way through, I suggest you give it another try.

To those of you who wonder how these women do what they do by sitting on invisible chairs, it's no trick, it's REAL. Please read my comments on the original post that explains it.

Also here's a more complete explanation:

WHERE ARE

THE CHAIRS? AMAZING..

But where are the chairs?
Absolutely wonderful!! Beautiful performance. A breath of fresh
air, enjoy!
This is China's showcase to the world!
Absolutely beautiful but …WHERE ARE THE CHAIRS?
Are those lady musicians sitting on invisible chairs?

Apparently NOT - it's a form of YOGA . This is actually being
done in a yoga pose known as chair posture".
Imagine holding this position for that long!
The strength in their legs is unbelievable!

That is fucking nuts that they can hold that pose with one leg and still play perfectly. Very very impressive.

That's pretty impressive. My wife keeps saying "There's a string there or something." So I told her to at least try to do what they're doing, and she was able to get into that position ... but she couldn't hold it for very long. So, yeah. Impressive.

OK forever the cynic here.

If you watch the video, it appears that there are spots where their foot was positioned - watch near the end when they stand up and walk forward. I'm going to suggest that they are using magnets (or some other apparatus) to hold their feet to the floor AND employ a brace. Now that would still take unbelievable strength to hold that position even given that. But part of why I was looking for that was that when they rocked back while playing, they cross the line of physics. I would argue that adding momentum to that position would be physically impossible without locking down the foot at minimum.

Also, watch ANY display of incredible balance and training. You will observe some degree of instability - even from fellow Chinese performers. That they are not showing one iota of instability given the pose, it is obvious that left leg is supported and they are able to lean onto that supported leg.

Just because they are masters at yoga and have been culled, trained for life, beaten, etc. to get the most glowing representatives of their gov't doesn't mean there are no aids employed during a performance.

Have them do that performance with bare legs and move that foot while sitting and I'll buy it.

Magnets was my guess too.

Still impressive strength...

But... the center of gravity is off for their not to be something.

Not only do I agree with you Stew ,I call bullshit on the Yoga thing as well.
At 1:02 the girls look down position their left foot at precise points on the stage and turn a quarter turn to lock the device in ,when they lift the back leg there is no way their center of gravity can be nuetral.
ramsince 62 ya been duped my friend
I saw a very similar trick done on America's Got Talent

Not gonna argue look at the vid from 1:02 to 1:20 it's pretty obvious

I agree, there has to be some stability device inside their pant legs maybe that they lock into place.

While I believe the dedication of the performers, especially from that country, and I can believe they are all in incredible strength, I still see that "defying physics" stance of rocking back a little too far to not denote any apparent tension in their body language. They are just too fluid to have taunt muscle performance going on. Fantastic show none the less.

It's an illusion and a very good one.

There is a chair built into the pants, that's why the pant legs are so large and flowing. The seat is on their butts under their pants.

It's clever but not hard to figure out.

I'm going to go ahead and volunteer to check each of their pants prior to their next performance. I will report back my findings only after thorough inspection.

And I'm going to assume that video of said inspection will follow in the super secret section here on ROD. :tooth:

In HD of course. I'll use my son's GoPro and trust in my careful cavity inspection.

Hopefully Les doesn't find out about the "secret section". We should not mention this again. :what:

Consider the secret section never mentioned again. You have my word.

but if you look at their butts, they are still nicely rounded off, not flattened by an invisible chair

The chair doesnt have to be very big just big enough to help balance so could be covering just a small portion of each cheek that your unable to see
