Saw him go Supersonic at Edwards in the early 80's in a F-15. You can get in big trouble for doing that.

But not him. Who is going to chastise the first man who had the balls to try that for the first time.

Met him at the Reno Air Races one year. He was bigger than any rock star.

RIP Col Yeager.

Met Chuck years ago at the Oshkosh Air show. Well before "everyone" knew who he was. Had a great conversation about airplanes and flying. Couldn't tell you today what it was, but back then it mattered to me. In later years many found him to be unapproachable and condescending in his attitude. I think at times he just wanted to be left alone. One of the few famous people I met there.
