Going to post about Arizona game today,to review a loss.PISSED just from the start of that game.JJ Watt got away with a late hit in my eyes.
I used to LOVE The NFL back in the day growing up from the first SuperBowl.Playing hard 2 hand touch in a short area? No count,so knowing what it felt to get hit or sacked while throwing the ball.Whatever it was we would always try to find out what a late hit was. We might have even played tackle?

The rule was when you got rid of the ball that you could not hit the QB. It was when you got hit while throwing the ball. If you got hit afterwards it was late, unless you could not hold up. Then it was you also had to make an effort not to hit the QB,or make at least an attempt.

I’m pissed off at the non call on JJ Watt coming in against Matthew Stafford. I could give a CRAP about how hard he came in either.

My question is what is the opinion of posters about late hits. Brady is playing tonight & he has created rule changes.

you need to post the video to refresh our memory....BUT, I hate the fact that some QB's get those calls and most don't...maybe it's a crew to crew thing but it seems inconsistent

Yeah, I'm curious too. Can't seem to find that clip but here's Stafford last year against JJ Watt.

Anyways- it was the extra push that JJ Watt did not have to do.It was extra & made Stafford hit the deck. JJ Watt had enough time to slow up & is in control of his own body.He is looking straight at the QB & had to have seen the ball was released.I know at times players are just trying to get to the QB.

That DOES look like it meets today’s definition of late hit. Tiny shove too.

But I don’t think these hits should be called, myself.

I didn't see an extra push, but after seeing it 10x over it kinda does. JJ does back off, doesn't drive him down, not in the head/neck area, and backs off. A lot of QBs get hit like that. Looks pretty normal.

And it was JJ Watt. If it was Frank Clark for example, perhaps the outcome may have been different

Far enough. Thanks for the input.Just wondering others views.Just to add on that view as a judgment call.

What if his just got to the sidelines?
Those late hits are good until you throw him to the ground.as an example?

I think I'd be mad if they called a foul on that hit on Donald. Not a big deal IMO.
