Curious what you guys think here. Is it possible there are any residual effects lingering after that SF loss? A team we had loss to 5 straight at the time. Wanting to win at home, to clinch the division and break the losing streak. Put ourselves as the #2 seed in the NFC and close out the season playing our best football. Instead we completely choked. Blew a 17 point lead to our division rivals who we can't beat. Could not stop the run in the 2nd half when their physicality took over. Without their all pro LT in fact. Knowing we needed one stop, the defense got picked apart in less than a minute and allowed them to tie the game. Then moments later, they win the toss and immediately drive down again unstoppably and win the game.

The fact that we choked in this manner, the way you lose sometimes has a lingering effect that us actually greater than the loss itself. The way the SF fans completely took over SoFi. The way Ramsey called out our defense scheme after the game proving there is some discension in the locker room.

Success and confidence are contagious and breeds more of the same. But the flip-side is also true. Self doubt and hesitation can creep in and cripple a competitor. I'm seriously wondering how a loss like that wont have an effect on us. It takes incredible mental fortitude to brush a loss like that off and come back to play your best football.

I think its better no way we were winning 10 games in a row to win the SB.

4 MUCH more manageable.

SF game is over WE are division champs, THEY just snuck in.

Time to get ready for MNF!!!!

Oh it's possible. But if that's the case we're gonna know it quick when the Cards dunk us.

Way I'm gonna look at it... Rams defense had been playing a ton better all Dec. The 9er game sucked but they played them to OT it's not like they got knocked out. They're probably pissed beyond belief. And that can be good in terms of focusing a team in. Especially if they're pros and I think the Rams are pros.

Plus hoping just feels better.

They seem to have a pretty good collective head on their shoulders as a group. I don't think confidence is going to be any issue going forward.

I’m hoping it has the same affect as a bad dress rehearsal leading to a great performance the following day. Hopefully, there will be no sluggishness come Monday Night.

Does it destroy confidence, or bolster resolve?

I’d say both theories are overrated and overstated.

Besides… wouldn’t it be worse for the Cardinals, who lost 4 of their last 5, including losses to the Rams and two teams (Detroit, Seattle) with losing records?

I think the way McVay runs the operations week to week is meant to squash this kind of thinking.

Whatever happened win or loss, that is history. Time to prepare for the next game and move forward with their process.

No worries. We got this. We have Eric Weddle!

Seriously though, I too was wondering how we would react on MNF. I believe that the Cards game will tell us what we are really made of.

McVay said that the niners game don’t mean shizzle! We will tune in for MNF and find out.

Yea me too. This happens all the time and we have the team to bounce back in a big way. I just sort of wish we lost in a different way. I knew the SF game would be tough, but man just losing in that manner and having an emotional dump like that has to be tough and will test the guys mental strength for sure.

Whole team needs about 20 hours of group therapy.

Great point with AZ. Yea I'm hoping the guys took it the right way and can bounce back from it. We're too talented to wither away after a loss like that. But man I swear I'll have nightmares at some point over that game so I can only imagine how the players felt.

In a word, NO. I would think being competitive SOBs their mindset is "win this week". Perhaps in the back of their mind, they'd like one more shot at SF. And if they keep their eyes on the prize and win this week, they may get that rematch. Frazier and Ali fought 3 times. Neither swept.

I think it's great that Frisco and the NFL world is crowing about Frisco....reminds me of Oregon State, they have been termed "The Giant Killers" for knocking off teams like USC in their prime....BUT...don't you ever WANT to be the GIANT?...Frisco strutting around crowing about beating us twice...Yeah, well you finished 3rd, so I'm glad your happy with that...keep that mentality...

Maybe if it doesn’t bother them, it should, from a long term perspective. I keep thinking this will be the year that finally removes McSnead’s blind spot about investing in the trenches. Just the Creed blunder alone will haunt us for a while.

Out coach was celebrating a TD in the 1st half like we won the Super Bowl. We have no killer instinct. We play not to lose instead of stepping on our opponents throats. Should have tried to beat these guys by 50 points....instead we closed our eyes and hoped for the best.

The culture around the team is great....but the attitude needs a change.
