Notice I said LOVE, there are plenty of other guys I'd be happy with. Most of the guys on this list would have great value for where I think they would be drafted in our MAJOR positions of need:
RB: Le'Veon Bell MSU (3-4), Marcus Lattimore SCAR (3-5), Latavius Murray UCF (6-UDFA)
WR: Tavon Austin WVU (1), Deandre Hopkins CLEM (1-2), Da'Rick Rogers TENN (2-3), Stedman Bailey WVU (2-4), Markus Wheaton OSU (3-4), Ace Sanders SCAR (3-5) Conner Vernon DUKE (5-UDFA), TJ Moe MIZZ (6-UDFA)
OG: Chance Warmack BAMA (1), Jonathan Cooper UNC (1), Larry Warford KENT (2-3)
OLB: Arthur Brown KSU (1-2), Khaseem Greene RUTG (3-4), Gerald Hodges PSU (4-5)
S: Jonathan Cyprien FLINT (1-2), Matt Elam FLA (2-3), DJ Swearinger SCAR (2-3), Baccari Rambo GA (2-3), Tony Jefferson OKLA (3-4)
Bolded are my favorite players out of the list.
My Dream Draft:
1(a): Chance Warmack OG Alabama
Definition of a mauler, would shore up the interior for Sam. Solidifies the o-line.
1(b): Jonathan Cyprien S Florida International
Center fielder w/ballhawking ability. Most versatile safety in the draft (able to play SS & FS at high level).
2: Da'Rick Rogers WR Tennessee Tech (Formerly of Tennessee)
Big, physical WR who uses his size well & makes acrobatic catches. Downfield threat. Reminds me of Dez Bryant (hope his head is a little better).
3: Khaseem Greene OLB Rutgers
Although I'd love my boy Arthur Brown, he'll be gone. Greene has good instincts & is a form tackler. Has adequate speed & is much better in coverage than Dunbar.
4: Marcus Lattimore RB South Carolina
I nearly cried seeing this kids injury last year. Not as bad as people had influentially believed. Has the heart of a lion because of what he's gone through. McGahee & Gore suffered similar injuries coming out of college. Lattimore may even be ready for the season. Kid can do everything. Pass block, good speed, stellar vision, good power, & ball carrying.
5: Ace Sanders WR/KR/PR South Carolina
3 Gamecocks on the same team? Sanders is a poor man's Austin, but comes at a much lower draft price. Can be used similarly as Austin in the offense & would at least return punts. Reminds me more of Dexter McCluster.
6: CB (I haven't done much HW on the position but best prospect available)
All I know is we need CB depth, because other than Quintin Pointer & PS, we have no depth after Finn, Jenk, & Tru. Vet corner could be added too following the draft.
7: TJ Moe WR Missouri
I would prefer Vernon here, but I think he goes 5-6. Moe could be a solid 4-6 contributor on the depth chart & his skill set reminds me a bit of Dane Looker. Hard worker & strong. He'd round out our WR corps.
Summary: WR heavy draft (3) which I think we need. We carried 6 WRs in 2012 & we only have 3 right now. 3 more would get us back to 6. Turner did his best, as did Ojinaka & everyone else did at LG in 2012, but it wasn't enough. Sam needs a pocket to step up into now that he has solid tackles. Cyprien turns a weakness into a strength (if Stew plays SS) & Greene fills out the LB corps, allowing us to sit Dunbar on passing downs. Lattimore can be special if he heals well, being the leader of a 3 headed monster. Rogers gives Sam a big target, more pro ready than Quick, with a higher ceiling. Sanders can be used sparingly on offense, but gives us a legit returner. Moe will battle for a spot & push guys like Pettis & Quick even harder.
