Professional dumbass and Rams hater Walter Cheripinsky continues to deny greatness when he sees it and places the Patriots and the Chiefs at #2 and #1 respectively.

NFL Week 8 power rankings: Rams still No. 1
By: Cameron DaSilva

Through the first seven weeks of the season, no team has been as dominant as the Los Angeles Rams. They have a points differential of plus-107, which is No. 1 in the league by 29 points, to go along with the best record at 7-0.

As a result, they’ve remained atop this week’s USA TODAY power rankings. Here’s what the site had to say about the Rams:

They don’t have that ‘x’ designation in the standings yet for officially clinching a playoff berth, but all 24 teams starting 7-0 since 1990 have reached postseason.

The lowest the Rams have been in these rankings all season is No. 5, while they’ve been atop the list for several weeks now. It’s impossible to put any team above them, too. There isn’t a team they wouldn’t be favored against at this point in time, which is the ultimate sign that they’re the best squad in the NFL.

The most surprising development in these power rankings is that the Chiefs remain fourth and haven’t even climbed past that position all season. Sure, the defense is suspect, but that offense might be the best in football.

The Saints jumped the Patriots for the second spot, while the Chargers come in at No. 5. As for the rest of the NFC West, the Seahawks are 16th, followed by the Cardinals at 30 and the 49ers one spot behind them. The Raiders are last with an abysmal 1-5 record.

Need more from: P Johnny Hekker. There's not much to gripe about with the Rams' 7-0 start, and they don't punt often -- but when they do, Hekker hasn't been as productive as last year. The Rams are averaging the third-fewest yards per punt this season after averaging the fourth most last year. -- Michael Schwartz

RAMS (7-0)

Previous rank: No. 1

The Rams charge to 7-0, besting their long-time adversaries from the north. The 49ers were no match for a team sitting on the NFL's top shelf, even though the Niners donned the same jerseys they wore in their most recent Super Bowl title season. The usual chatter around the Rams centers around Jared Goff, Todd Gurley and the offense, but on Sunday, it was about the defensive line blowing up the center of the 49ers' offense.

Aaron Donald posted four sacks and a rip job worthy of Peanut Tillman. While you're watching highlights, check out how fast Donald collapses the pocket, deep in San Francisco territory. Since we're having so much fun with L.A.'s dominance on video ... I never thought this delayyyyyyyyyyyed screen that Goff threw across his body -- and all the way across the field -- would result in Gurley scoring yet another touchdown.

Side note: I have 49ers at Rams from 1994 on DVD. Both teams wore the same throwbacks they donned this weekend. L.A. was led by Chris Miller and Chris Chandler at quarterback. Jerome Bettis rushed for over 100 yards. The teams were celebrating the NFL's 75th Anniversary. To think next season is Year 100. Pretty cool.

1. Los Angeles Rams:

What can you say about the last undefeated team who just steamrolled another opponent? They get the #1 ranking for being the #1 team.

1 Los Angeles Rams

NFC West

It’s the Rams ... and then everyone else in the NFC West. The Rams won their seventh straight game (courtesy of the 49ers) and look completely dominant as the NFL’s top team. The Seahawks had their bye this week while the Cardinals were trampled over on Thursday night and fired their offensive coordinator as a result.

The 49ers were dealt a tough blow with the Jimmy Garoppolo injury back in Week 3, but it looks like they’ll get a top-10 draft pick again next year to add a nice piece to their roster. With that said, the Rams own the NFC West right now.

They're winning close games now too, and that's the sound of the '72 Dolphins getting a little more nervous with each passing week.

1 - Los Angeles Rams (Last Week: 1) - The Rams continue to roll their opponents. LA owns the league’s best point differential at +107. That’s 29 points higher than the second closest team.

1. Los Angeles Rams 7-0 (last week: 1)

Todd Gurley and Jared Goff were having too much fun, so it became time for Aaron Donald to flex his muscles and remind everyone this team has both the best running back and the best defensive player in the NFL.

Through seven weeks of the season, it’s clear the Rams are the best team in the NFL and, despite a hard schedule, should be the clear favorites in each game from here on out.

Los Angeles Rams
The Rams looked unstoppable against the Vikings on a recent Thursday night. When that happened, I wrote, "Be wary of teams that appear that way on national TV. They can often disappoint afterward because they're way overvalued. Remember the Eagles from numerous years ago with their controversial quarterback when they couldn't be stopped against the Redskins? That's what the Rams' win over Minnesota felt like."

As it turns out, the Rams haven't covered the spread since beating Minnesota, save for their Week 7 victory over C.J. Boat Hard, or whatever his name is. They've beaten seven teams that are a combined 18-28-1. Because looking at numbers is lazy, let's analyze the wins:

- Rams beat the Raiders after trailing at halftime. Oakland's only win thus far came via horrible officiating versus a rookie quarterback making his first start.

- Rams shut out the Cardinals, who were nearly blanked at home the week before versus the Redskins.

- Rams beat the Chargers by 12. The same Chargers who nearly lost to C.J. Beathard.

- Rams defeated the Vikings by seven. Minnesota tied the Packers and a hobbled Aaron Rodgers and then was blown out by Buffalo. Plus, some poor officiating buried the Vikings.

- Rams snuck out a win against a pedestrian Seattle team, as Los Angeles couldn't stop the run.

- Rams beat the Broncos by three, although they were up by more before some garbage scores. Case Keenum was horrible until the Rams went into a prevent, and Denver stinks overall.

- Rams crushed C.J. Boat Hat, or whatever his name is.

I understand that the Rams seem unstoppable, but that's precisely what makes them overrated.

What this jackass said isn't false. But he also sounds like he typical "has an excuse for everything" kind of observation. We'd need to destroy the Packers, Chiefs and Saints to get that "respect" of these kind of non-believers. And even these he'd find something to complain about

Week Eight power rankings
Posted by Mike Florio on October 23, 2018, 12:04
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/10/23/week-eight-power-rankings-8/

1. Rams (7-0; last week No. 1): It’s way too early to think about 16-0, especially with the Packers, Saints, and Chiefs looming.

2. Saints (5-1; No. 2): The next two games — Vikings and Rams — could be the difference between securing a bye and fighting for a wild-card berth.

3. Patriots (5-2; No. 3): With Derek Anderson at quarterback, the Patriots should only fear flying objects other than footballs when they return to Bills.

4. Chiefs (6-1; No. 4): A second straight slide to 6-6 is looking less and less likely.

5. Chargers (5-2; No. 6): An all-L.A. Super Bowl isn’t out of the question.

6. Vikings (4-2-1; No. 8): The offense needs to become much more consistent to beat the likes of the Saints and the Lions over the next two weekends.

7. Ravens (4-3; No. 5): Justin Tucker rhymes with a four-syllable phrase that plenty of Ravens fans were surely shouting when that extra point sailed wide of the post.

8. Packers (3-2-1; No. 9): The defense needs to step up, or the Rams may score 50.

9. Steelers (3-2-1; No. 10): The Steelers secured the rare bye-week trifecta, with every other team in their division losing.

10. Washington (4-2; No. 13): Don’t be shocked if/when Washington upsets the Rams in January.

:shocking:

How good are the Rams? Are they 16-0 good?

It has been many weeks since there was any doubt about the Los Angeles Rams being the best team in football.

We should start asking if we’re seeing a historically good Rams team.

The Rams dismantled the San Francisco 49ers 39-10 on Sunday. They’re 7-0 and already have a plus-107 point differential. While it’s not exactly a 2007 Patriots-type start, considering they were challenged by the Seahawks, and the Broncos technically only lost by three (a late score made the game look a lot closer than it actually was), what we’re seeing out of the Rams is pretty good.

Los Angeles can win with a pass-heavy approach or on the ground. Todd Gurley has scored a mind-blowing 14 touchdowns already, and has more points on the season than the Buffalo Bills. The defense, especially with Aaron Donald getting hot, has had its moments of dominance. And the special teams will be better now that kicker Greg Zuerlein is back from injury.

It’s a little early to start talking about an undefeated season, but the Rams are the only team that can give us any 16-0 speculation. They’re the only team left without a loss. Is 16-0 possible? The Rams have the ability to beat anyone, but stringing together 16 in a row against this tough schedule will be very, very hard:

Week 8: vs. Packers
Week 9: at Saints
Week 10: vs. Seahawks
Week 11: vs. Chiefs (at Mexico City)
Week 12: bye
Week 13: at Lions
Week 14: at Bears
Week 15: vs. Eagles
Week 16: at Cardinals
Week 17: vs. 49ers"

If the Rams can somehow get to the bye undefeated, running the Aaron Rodgers/Drew Brees/Russell Wilson/Patrick Mahomes gauntlet, they have a chance. But that’s asking a lot. Also, games at the Lions and Bears won’t be easy (an L.A. team in Chicago in December is never a great situation), and even though the Eagles will play in L.A., Philadelphia beat the Rams in the same spot last season. It’s incredibly hard to believe the Rams would be able to avoid a loss through those seven opponents, though if they do the final two games should be wins.

It’s OK that 16-0 isn’t a good possibility. A game at the Superdome in two weeks looks like a candidate for the first loss, or perhaps it will be against the Chiefs in one of the most entertaining regular-season matchups ever. An undefeated regular season isn’t the Rams’ goal anyway. Just because they’re the best team through seven weeks doesn’t mean the Rams will win a Super Bowl, but they’re the clear favorites right now. They’re positioned well to at least get the NFC’s top playoff seed, though that game at the Saints might go a long way in determining it.

It’s still quite possible we could see a 14- or 15-win Rams team if they catch some breaks and stay relatively healthy. They’re good enough to make a run at that kind of record. And if nothing else, it’s going to be fun to watch them chase some history.

1. Los Angeles Rams (7-0, LW: 1)

Aaron Donald had four sacks and six tackles for loss on Sunday. He also had an absolutely incredible play in which he simply took the ball from 49ers running back Matt Breida for a forced fumble and recovery. Imagine how good the Rams are going to be if Donald is hitting a hot streak.
