Postgame Notes: Rams vs. New York Jets (11-18-12)
- RB Steven Jackson rushed 13 times for 81 yards, a 6.2-yard average and a long of 21 yards. Marks Jackson’s sixth highest average of his career when he has carried at least 10 times
- WR Danny Amendola led the team in receptions with seven for 41 yards.
- S Quintin Mikell registered his first sack of the season on Jets QB Mark Sanchez. The hit caused Sanchez to fumble on the play. Sanchez recovered the fumble. The sack is Mikell’s second as a Ram, last was vs. Philadelphia (9/11/11), and his 6th career
- WR Austin Pettis caught a 36 yard pass for a new career long. Pettis led the team in receiving yards with 46 on two receptions.
- WR Brandon Gibson caught a 1-yard touchdown reception from Bradford. Gibson caught a second touchdown reception from Bradford to give him his first multi-touchdown game of his career. Gibson now has four touchdowns this season and eight career.
- With Gibson’s touchdown on the opening drive, the Rams have scored a touchdown on the opening drive in each of the last three consecutive games (vs. New England (10/28), at San Francisco (11/11), and vs. New York Jets (11/18). The last time the Rams accomplished that feat was in 2002, vs. San Diego (11/10), vs. Chicago (11/18), and at Washington (11/24).
- DE Chris Long sacked Sanchez for a three-yard loss. Long added a second sack on Sanchez for his second multi-sack game of the season. Long now has 7.0 sacks on the season and 38 career.
- CB Janoris Jenkins blocked a 26-yard field goal attempt. The last time the Rams blocked a field goal was when DE James Hall blocked a 49-yard field goal by K Nate Kaeding vs. San Diego (10/17/10).
- The Jets did not convert a fake field goal attempt with TE Tim Tebow in the second quarter. Tebow completed a pass to FB Lex Hilliard for a loss of 1-yard and was tackled short of a first down by LB James Laurinaitis.
- WR/KR Chris Givens returned five kickoffs for 127 yards, including a season-long of 48 yards. The return is the longest since Amendola returned one for 84 yards vs. San Francisco (12/26/10).
- According to press box statistics, LB James Laurinaitis led the team in tackles with 11 (10 solo).
- P Johnny Hekker punted five times for 251 yards, a 50.2-yard average, 44.4-yard net. Hekker placed on e inside the 20-yard line and had a long of 57 yards.
