I'm thinking this could be a close call.

I'm inclined to think the vets will beat out the rookies for the job.

I'll pick Rochell, but I easily could see Hill or Long stepping up.

Who you got?!?!

Rochell's the guy with the length and speed and a year under his belt. If he can win that job I think we're in business so I hope it's him.

I think Hill is cheap insurance. Ideally the kids step up and win these jobs.

If it's not Rochelle we have a problem. Zion was there for the taking, but we didn't because presumably the expectation was that we already have a big corner opposite JR in the building. Rochelle flashed upside prior to injury. He needed a red shirt year regardless given how raw he was coming out. Sky is the limit for him.

It feels like it’s Rochelle’s job to lose.

I like that the Rams really loaded up on DB’s this off-season. Never can have enough of them... The Rams have a lot of versatile/interesting guys in this group too.

Easily Rochell. He has game experience, and he’s got huge potential. And while I think Hill starts in the slot, I definitely could see Durant getting snaps. Kendrick is an intriguing option if he can keep his head on straight. Long may very well be a trade chip, along with Rapp.

Let’s not the discount a slot cover guy. Rochell AND Hill could both start. That would mean Burgess might be on the way out, and the Rapp trade could actually be in play.

In any case, Hill, Rochell, DD, and Long to go with Ramsey…the Rams have been in worse spots, WAY worse.

I definitely agree that Rochelle and Jill could both start and I'm sure they'll be on the field at the same time for a lot of plays.

They wanted Troy Hill back for a reason.

Rochelle DOES have major upside and could even benefit from playing across from Ramsey.

Both Rochelle and Troy Hill could get a lot of opportunities because they're throwing away from Ramsey.

I voted Thrill. Looks like the overwhelming majority picked him or Roche. Whomever wins it fine by me. Looking forward to an outstanding secondary.

Slot is really interesting to consider. They basically added two slot corners. So if Hill starts in the slot I think that's the least desirable option for them. Because he's inconsistent, he's still the same guy who giveths and takeths away lol.

Ideally Durant or Kendricks is a revelation there for us. Then you have Hill for moving things around in packages or helping out opposite Ramsey. I'm not sold on the idea that Rochell is ready. It's more of a "I hope he's ready" thing for me. Ideally our top three will be Ramsey / Rochell / Durant IMO. That's a trio with some juice to it wooo.

I think Hill manages the slot and Rochell goes outside. I do think you have to watch out for derion Kendrick as he is probably more pro ready than Rochell , even with a year under his belt. They might be close. David Long could easily make a big jump too.

Rochell will be the boundary CB. Rochell needs to stay healthy and begin to show development. He has a good work ethic so I'm sure he will. If Rochell can begin to reach his ceiling he can be a worthy partner to Ramsey with the same speed and athleticism.

What was clear here and in Cleveland is that Hill lacks the speed and acceleration to play outside. His 4.55 speed was clearly outclassed by WRs running 4.4 ranges. His poor acceleration and lack of burst also was a problem. That's why Cleveland was moving on from him. They wanted him off the roster so badly they are paying the bulk of his salary and took a net loss on the trade. Had people watched him in Cleveland they would know why. That's why people here need to temper their expectations. When used properly he can still be an effective player, but a limited one. Troy benefited from Staley's scheme, which isn't played here anymore.

I expect Hill will play in the sub-packages, i.e. nickel and dime. As he showed here and again in Cleveland Hill is limited in how he can best be played. He's strictly a zone CB, i.e. off coverages with limited expectations in carrying a receiver deep. He simply lacks the foot speed to do so. Also, his technique tends to break down.Troy will be used primarily inside in rotation with Deayon. That is where his experience will make a difference over Deayon. Hill could be pushed in camps by Hall who is also a zone CB but with much better long speed (4.41). Hall knows Morris' system having played with Morris in Atlanta.

Here’s what my crystal ball shows me…

Ramsey and Rochell will be boundary CB’s come opening day. Rochell will grow by leaps and bounds and will be a worthy complement to Ramsey outside for years to come. Sky is the limit with this kid.

Hill will be slot CB on opening day and will hold his own nicely. But he will be pushed by a variety of young CB’s for playing time this year and may not even be extended for next year. IOW, I think Hill is planned to be a bridge/insurance slot CB while a youngster steps up to claim the starting slot position either later this year or in ‘23 for sure.

Rams now seem blessed with numerous promising young CB’s. Hopefully, camp and the PS games are gonna give us a chance to see proof of their respective potentials.

I'm not comfortable predicting, at this point.. but I'd say the best development for the team would be Rochell winning that job.

What I know is that competition is a good thing and we have several options. Now it’s time for each guy to show and prove they should be the man - RR, Hill, Love and the rooks. That’s a very good thing.

Long played really well down the stretch and especially when it mattered most. I hope he can build on that but if not there are other options, including Hill, Rochell and Durant. Our secondary is looking solid and could be great
