Found this at msn.com this morning. Thought it worth posting since a ram came in at #5.

The two main reasons this writer gives that Goff will fade from his 2018 season are totally bogus. If you did a little deeper even Child Ram fans would find fault in his reasonings.

Goff is still learning & he does have some ugly warts in his backpack of Skills & Talents that he shows to us @ times. plus his OL might experience more rough moments early in this season that could cause him to have bad games....but this heady thrower will not fade & has over and over again returned to lead to big wins in his college & early NFL RAM career.

I would imagine we all are at least somewhat concerned about this possibility. It's beyond discussion that Goff was not good at the end of the year...we're just hoping it was the absence of Kupp

he threw seven touchdowns compared to eight interceptions over his final eight games.
This fact has been thrown around a lot to suggest a total collapse on Goff's game during the 2nd half of last season.

What is never mentioned is that four of those seven INT's came in one game at Chicago. Among the rest of those final seven games Goff threw one INT three times and zero INT's four times.

In those same final eight games he threw a total of 15 TD passes compared to throwing 17 in the first eight games.

In the playoffs the Rams ran roughshod over Dallas, grinded out a win over NO where Goff threw one TD and one INT that went through Gurley's hands and then lost in the Super Bowl where nothing went right on offense much like in Chicago.

Make your own conclusions.

Media still hanging on to their preconceptions. Here's hoping our kid QB puts together an MVP season.

My god what does Goff have to do to get some damn respect??? This whole narrative against him blows my mind. He turned 24 during the season last year. You can put his numbers from 2017 and 2018 up against any QB in the league.

He had 1 terrible game vs Chi where he threw 4 ints and now every person that writes an article paints his last few games with a broad stroke without giving any specifics.

I’ve never seen so many people with their minds already made up on a kid that is balling out and doing it the right way. Judging by his career trajectory next season should be his best yet. He’s improved every year. To expect him to regress goes against every thing he has shown as a football player since his freshman year at cal.

Both Sean McVay and Jared have that perfectionist streak inside of them. They respond to adversity by pushing ever closer towards perfection. The Super Bowl loss should fill the rest of the NFL with dread. Anyone who has been paying attention knows the Leprechaun and his Signal Caller will galvanize themselves and their teammates. The Son of Bum may finally put together his best Horns defense in his third season leading the Rampaging defenders. And Bones still leads the NFL's best special teams unit.

Be afraid, you idiotic Media 'geniuses,' be very, very afraid!!!

It was more than Kupp.

The OL had a bad day against CHI.

Goff has the same amount of SB starts as Brees and Rodgers. Granted he didn't win, but that was on McVay's shoulders with the play tells.

And comparing him to Brady while Godd is age 23/24 is a bad discussion.

Won't scoff at the money because it's not mine and that's what franchise QB's are worth. Rather have one on a rookie deal but i'd rather have an expensive one than not have one at all. Does anyone want to go back in time and HOPE and PRAY that the Rams can somehow, someday find one?

So be it. Pay him.

But Goff WAS terrible for a stretch to end the season. The only thing that saved him statistically was playing an awful Niners team. That's relevant because if we're going to blame Kupp being out and the OL having a few bad games - the talent around him will decline once we pay him...if he needs perfect circumstances, paying him will prevent that from happening.

Eventually a team will have to answer these questions:

Is an offense better with elite weapons and a top OL coupled with an average QB (on a rookie deal)?

Or better with an elite QB (which is giving Goff more credit than he deserves right now), average WRs and average OL?

Coaching plays a role too but that's in the Rams favor - and after all, our offense was MUCH better than the Packers, and they even had Adams and Graham as weapons.

In the near future a team will let a franchise QB go to keep the talent around the QB (and on defense) intact.
