I would like to clarify how we are posting bets. I often see bets on over/under and with a point spread that also have odds. These should be 1-1 bets.

If I say I bet the Rams / Dallas game will go over 43, it's a 1-1 bet and, if you take that bet, you are betting it will be under 43. There are no odds. If the game lands on 43, it's a push.

Agreed?

Pitboss how about throwing up a line on Damarco Murrys yards. Will he go over 150 yrds or under. The way he has handled us in the past this would be a fun bet to see where the guys think he will go or if our defense stuffs his ass this time

I can do that in the future if you'd rather, it doesn't bother me too much, if I was getting the money from people's lost bets I'd worry more.

I just use the odds from betting sites, those tend to take a bit away from even odds in order to make a profit, on here even odds probably make more sense.

OK, cool. Thanks.

Do you use a money line calculator for money line bets?

I used to use Vegas Insider and used thier odds too. But now I am finding ESPN easier to read so I use them ( they post 5 active odds making sites like 5Dimes, BOVADA or Fantasy911.com) I was using 1-1 odds for everything I did last year until someone called me on it. So now I use the 1.91 for everything exept moneylines. Its true though...some of these side bets like number of sacks, etc, should be even odds.

In theory though, we would actually start at 1-1 and adjust the over/under to correct instead of doing odds. Yes?

"Understanding Payouts When Betting On The Over / Under

The payouts for an over/under total wager fluctuate but generally stay around even payouts for both sides of the bet. The times when the payout for an over/under will not be equal are usually when:

  1. One side of the wager is being bet on more than the other, however sportsbook operators will generally adjust the actual total to balance the wager instead of changing the payouts."
For me, I just find it fast and easy to do 1-1. I'll probably look for the real time adjusted over/unders, set it at that, and leave it, if that's cool. The result is really no different then setting the odds and never adjusting them.

The half point is easier.....in the past, If I had committed to Harrah's odds I would defer to another odds maker on even numbered games only.. It takes a lot of confusion out because there will be a payout or a collection and no push.

As far as the 10/11 goes.....I'm indifferent because this is casual and fun. However, I've become used to it and since it is more realistic to go that way so I just stick with it.

Yeah, I think there's an option that can be switched on so the bookies are responsible for winning bets, and get the winnings from lost bets, but at the moment its as you say.
