Last year the Rams kept 5 RBs...but I think much of that was because of what Chase Reynolds and Isiah Pead did on STs.

With Pead out I don't really see the Rams keeping a 5th back...unless Trey Watts just really shows something real soon.

So if the scenario I just presented is in fact true, which players benefit from this? WIll another DB be kept? Will both Westbrooks and Sam make the squad? How about both Bayer and Cunningham?

What are your thoughts?

I think Westbrooks is going to make the team, not sure about Sam. But I do like Cunningham at TE, he can catch the ball.

I didnt have chase rynolds making the roster while pead was healthy and playing alot of special teams so all this does to me is push rynolds up to take peads spot.

It's an opportunity to keep both Westbrooks and Sam. No way either of these stays with the team if kept on the practice squad.

I think it will come down to someone who can play special teams. I think it's very possible Westbrooks AND Sam could make this team. Bayer has a better shot right now than J.Cunningham has in my opinion.

7th round picks don't get cut, folks. Westbrooks making the team and Sam making the team are not mutually exclusive.

Maybe they will bring in a veteran linebacker. It is needed more than keeping both Sam and Westbrooks right now.

Doubt it. We have to start making cuts soon. No point bringing in someone who doesnt know the defense during cut times. He wouldn't stand a chance, nor would it be fair or smart to cut a younger LB who has potential and knows the defense. If we add someone like that, IMO it'll be after cuts are done when other teams release guys with some ability.

We need a swing OT(not named Saffold) and a 3rd down RB with 3rd down RB skills.

Thats when I was talking about. Not right now. If Jlau goes down at all during regular season it screws up our LB corps big time.

Here's an interesting little chart I found on SB Nation that shows over a decade period the percentage of draft picks by round still in the league years 1 - 5 of their career. Kind of eye opening once most get to the second contract/higher league minimum around year 4 and especially year 5. NFL = Not For Long

Round Year 1 Year 2 Year 3 Year 4 Year 5
1 99.7% 93.5% 83.9% 77.4% 71.0%
2 96.8% 96.1% 83.9% 74.2% 41.9%
3 96.9% 75.1% 62.5% 37.5% 18.8%
4 91.4% 74.3% 54.3% 34.3% 17.2%
5 81.1% 56.8% 37.8% 24.3% 16.2%
6 70.2% 57.5% 35.3% 20.9% 10.6%
7 58.3% 45.8% 31.3% 21.7% 16.7%

58% of 7th rounders stay in the league, year 1? That's higher than I would have guessed.
