I think it could work with a strong running game setting up play action.
Stafford has not enjoyed play action that much but he is very effective when it is used. Id like to see it used more.
Week one (at least) with both Tackle spots being manned by back ups......run the ball.

And keep it out of Detroits offense hands.

Many expect a heavy rushing emphasis for good reason but the explosives through the air should be frequent
First off forgive my uncultured degenerate counterparts by Welcoming you to RamsOnDemand.com! I am the welcoming committee here.
Whats Up Hello GIF

Maybe we can have a picnic together sometime.

Secondly, we all know the engine that makes a McVay offense go is the running game that sets up the different pass options off of that. With our injuries on the O-Line to start the season and considering last year the Lions were second best vs. the Rush and our next opponent (Cardinals) were dead last against the rush last year I'm thinking we probably might run quit a bit these first two games.

Curious to see how things play out Sep. 8.

Its going to be interesting.....does the drafting of Corum mean we will run MORE than last year?

Or was it just because Kyren has had injury issues and we want to be able to keep things the same as last year, just across 17 games?

I think the run rate will be what it was with Kyren.. and that there won't be any falloff when he's not there.
There is a scenario where they run appreciably more...

They're kicking ass so hard that they're just playing ball control all the time :)

I expect we will be well rounded on offense... much like last year.

However in 2021 when we won the Super Bowl - we couldn't run the ball for shit.

But people will still go on and on about certain things

Yes and yes. Its been known since the Jonah Jackson signing that McVay wanted to improve the run game so they can run more to take pressure off Stafford. They like Kyren's running style and feel that it fits what they want to do. Corum is a similar runner so not much changes in what they want to do.

It's been known since 21, hasn't it?
They've been wanting to get bigger on the interior for a few years and were finally able to do it last year with Avila and Dotson.
It's so much fun... and now, so many teams are jumping on the bandwagon. Look at the contracts guards got in FA this season.

McVay can't help himself from taking the big shots downfield. I hope he will control the urge a little more this year.

I hope he can keep defenses guessing by utilizing more power runs and an improved screen execution. Stafford's protection has to improve. Adding Corrum will eliminate the letdown I noticed when Rivers replaced Williams. A more ball controlling offense will help Stafford stay halth and a young defense.

I agree that more power runs and an improved screen execution would be great. But why would McVay want to take fewer shots downfield?

As McVay says, explosive plays are the key to a great offense.

Yeah.. taking shots does not equal "pass happy" to me. With Stafford's arm.. you take those shots.

Its McVay, there will be at least one game he forgets about our run game and just passes all game long. Especially in the redzone.

We were pretty pass happy then and I think our playaction was the lowest it was since McVay was here. Partly due to having a great drop back QB finally and partly due to not being able to run for sh*t.

*Before anyone comes after me, "drop-back" means passing game without play action! Goff wasn't that good of a drop back player back then, though he's made crazy strides since then as one.

The Rams were tied for 17th in intended air yards - so they threw "Deep shots" less than average.
