For the most part, this has been a good trend this season. Our D has played very well in the 1st half of most games and then they are gassed in the 2nd half and things get ugly. So I decided to go back and look at all the opponents scoring in the 1st half of our games this season, and I didnt factor in special teams returns, fumble returns, int returns.

- Our defense has given up 146 pts over 14 games, so thats around a 10 pt average.

- The Saints game was the big turnaround for our D, they shutout the Saints in the 1st half.

- In the 6 games before that shutout our D had given up 106 points. Thats about an 18 pt average. 13 TDs, 5 FGs.

- The next 8 games our D gave up 40 pts. Thats a 5 pt average. In those 8 games, one TD allowed, 11 FGs.

Now I have checked and double checked this the best I could, if I got anything wrong please correct it.

Passes the eye test. Can speak for anyone else, but I don't need to double-check it. How there isn't any in-fighting after the extremely low production on offense is remarkable. If I'm on defense, I don't know how I react to this. Quality character guys goes a long way I suppose because nobody is pointing fingers. They just go out there and do their thing for as long as they can and hope the offense gets it on track. And the D has done a fair job at providing field position and turnovers too. Still nothing. It's a testament to someone - or something - that they keep on chopping wood anyway.
