As I'm born and raised in the UK, I havnt been exposed to American sports teams like you guys have.

I'm wondering what sports teams do you follow other than the obvious Rams?

Other football teams in other leagues, college etc
Basketball, baseball, lacrosse?

St. Louis Blues (hockey) and St. Louis Cardinals (baseball).

I’m a born, bred, and raised St. Louisan, and my mom carried me eight/nine months pregnant to games (and yes, the men freaked the fuck out, haha!), so I can actually say I’ve been a fan since before I was born.

Love hockey’s physicality and skill, love the intelligence and perseverance in baseball. Different sports than football, but just as awesome, in my mind.

Is it not a bit weird to cheer for a team called the cardinals?

It’s the bird, not the religious figure. St. Louis Cardinals have the famous “birds on the bat”, the Clydesdales on Opening Day, and eleven World Series Championships.

The Blues have only one Stanley Cup (2019), but they’re a young ascending team.

A few yrs ago I would have said Villanova college basketball. Under Jay Wright maybe one of the greatest cultures in all of sports. Turning 3 star HS players into NBA stars while winning 2 NCAA Championships and going to 3 Final Fours in a 5 yr period. Just look at the Knicks and the 3 Nova guys carrying them in the playoffs and how hard they play.

Unfortunately the NIL debacle ruined the cultures at most schools and Wright retired before he had to deal with the new system.

Now, their school did produce the new Pope...so they have that going for them.

Crossed wires lol.

I mean the football team who stole their name. We don't like different names in the UK lol

There’s a bit of irony about that: the Arizona Cardinals used to be in the Lou. So there was this whole thing about “baseball Cardinals” and “football Cardinals”. Except the football Cardinals always sucked.

This according to my dad; I wasn’t born at the time, and I’ve been a Rams fan since 1999 when I was eight.

The football cardinals did suck most of the time but in 1975 the Rams played them in the playoffs when the Cardinals had two of the dirtiest players in Dan Dierdorf and Conrad Dobler.

Merlin Olsen really hated Conrad Dobler. I remember him saying Conrad would bite him when they were both on the ground during a play.

Been a fan since 1999 also.

I watched a youtube about team origins, your dad is correct.

I think it's a ridiculous, but Chicago had the right idea, cubs and bears, until you include other sports lol

Dodgers would top my suggestions. Truly a great franchise with Magic Johnson's group leading the charge. Also, you could do like my son and I did and go to a Dodger game and a Ram game on back to back days. Dodger Stadium is the 3rd oldest stadium in the league and has regularly had the largest attendance in the league. It's a GREAT place to watch a game and the stadium tour is top notch.

Dobler was a fucking nutjob who made Richie Incognito look like Joan of Arc. Dierdorf was actually a nice guy off the field.

Add in Roger Wehrli (one of the most underrated corners of all time; think Jalen Ramsey Jaguars in terms of a skillset), and the football Cardinals had some players worth watching…just not a team worth watching.

They were originally from Chicago, actually, much like the Rams were originally from Cleveland.

Fuck the Cubbies, by the way. I don’t hate them as much as I do the Reds, but I want them to go another 100+ years without a WS ring.

I've been a Ram fan over 50 years now. Fans as old and traditional as I am consider it impossible to be a fan of any other NFL team. And that goes for the other sports as well. You pick your teams early on in life and you HAVE TO stick with them all the way to your grave. Otherwise, we consider you to be a Bandwagon Jumper. Not capable of loyalty. Team fandom change can be permitted only in the case of a team relocating, but you must actually live in the local area of the team.

I suggest deciding all on your own what teams you will support. Don't be swayed by anyone else. Just make sure to never jump ship... no matter how bad it gets. Us old time Ram fans have been through the worst of the worst. The suffering is debilitating at times, but it makes tasting victory so much better when it FINALLY comes.

My other teams, starting with my next favorite sport.
#2 College Football - FSU
#3 Beach Volleyball - Women's only (I don't discriminate between teams)
#4 Tennis - No Favorites... I love the sport
#5 Softball - Women's Fast Pitch (I don't discriminate between teams)
#6 NBA - Orlando Magic
#7 MLS - Orlando City
#8 World Cup - USA
#9 Olympic Sports with scoring/times - USA
#10 MLB - Stopped truly following years ago due to the uneven Financials allowed. But it used to be the KC Royals.

I will watch all other sports to get the feel of the game, but they won't keep my interest for very long.
